What the hell is this?? WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!?! It looks like an alien. It is some sort of a bug... a big GREEN bug. about an inch to an inch and a half long, 3/4 of an inch wide and here is the weird part: THe underbelly is a Bright Metallic Green color!!!!

WHAT THE FUH????? if I knew how to post a pic I would do it.

MAD MATT!!!!

THATS IT!!!! THE ALIEN!!! But the situation has gotten worse ... MUCH worse. First of all, it's dead. Second, my 2 1/2 year old daughter kinda... well,...... wants it for her pet.

did I mention oh....... ITS DEAD !!!!

she keeps crying for it saying "MY BUG MY BUG!"

Most little girls hates bugs... she loves them. HUH?

She may like a baby one, but wait till it grows up. Those things can get huge. Get her a parakeet, about the same size and much less disgusting!

I was speaking of fig beetles in general, not this particular deceased one.

But, I wouldn't turn my back on it until I was really sure it was dead.[:)]

We call them june bugs around here. Take a thread and tie it to a leg. That thing will fly in circles for a long time. Only bad thing is that they secrete some funky smelling oil and it will make your hands be all weird smelling.

and if you let her have it, maybe it will lead to some new interests for her. and if she gets bored of it, you can sell it on ebay.

either way your daughter sounds like a winner. not afraid of bugs. probably not araid to get dirty. should grow up to be a fine shooter.

Those are common in the summer here in San Diego. My cats bring them in the house and play with them until they stop flying.

Around here people refer to those as "peach beetles".

(Note that in the photo the beetle is on a peach.)

I remember them being very common here in TN when I was a kid. I have not seen one here in a longtime. My father always called them June bugs.

Hmmm...this is quite troubling.

All of my existing alien invasion repulsion plans are based on having to fight off 3 to 5 feet tall humanoids with large, easily targeted heads.

I was not planning to have to repel hordes of 2 inch insect-like creatures.

Maybe a pair of oversized tennis rackets would do the trick?
