Took my daughter and her friends to some haunted woods the other night so I armed myself with a knife and flashlight. Well the only good one I had laying around at the time was a surefire x300 which isnt a very good carry around in your pocket type of flashlight. So now I'm in the market for a good flashlight thats pocket sized and could be used to blind the shit out of someone. Looking at some of the surefires but its kind of hard to tell size from some of the pictures. Any idea's/places to buy one from the internet would be appreciated.

El Zetta

I really love mine.  They are very bright and you can get different end caps that have different functions.  My end cap has a strobe, but others have low light/high light capability.

Buy once, cry once flashlight = Ra Clicky of whatever persuasion you want.
Go to hdssystems.com or ralights.com (either address takes you to the same pages) and peruse the flashlight goodness!

MARATAC AA 120/1.5 lumens, $35.95 at County Comm:

Runs on a single AA battery. I keep a few of these around the house and shop, always have one in my pocket when I'm walking the dog at night.

There are hundreds to choose from, in every price range, size, battery type, brightness, and so on.

You can go to Walmart or Target and buy a very decently performing LED light,

Coleman, Energizer, Inova, among others, for around $20-$30

You can order some pretty kickass lights from China for $5-$30 and be quite happy.

Budget and needs determine the best options.

There was a Husky 2-C cell light at Home Depot for about $25 that looked like a rocket...

I bought one and it's a great light that doubles as a club. I don't know if they still carry those.

I have an OLight M20, as well as their Ti AAA light, both are good lights...

But they all suit different purposes. Can't carry a 2C light in the pocket, and a AAA light isn't going to be ideal in the woods.

Rechargeable lithium cells are great, but is that something you want to get into? Or do you want AAs?

If it's AA or 2xAA you want, I'd suggest just shopping around locally.

If you want something really blinding, you'll need to step up to something like 16340 or 18650 rechargeable cells.

Unless you want to pay for CR123s, which I personally don't care to do.

+1 for County Comm.  I've had one of these lights for a couple of years and works great.

PD32 is an excellent upgrade to this.

PD30 is a little smaller for the pocket.

Both are excellent choices.

I carry an older Fenix PD20 everywhere I go, however my only complaint is it doesn't have a pocket clip like the new one. I've had this light for 4 years now and it's worked great!!!

This is the one I carry

Here is the new one. I like the body design on the one I have better but oh well. the new one looks slightly brighter too.

4 SEVENS Tactical 2AA or Pelican 2370.

Both are LED have a high and low white light settings, both use AA batteries.

The 4 Sevens has a strobe feature and the Pelican has a Red and Blue light mode.

Both have pocket clips and the 4 Sevens has a reversible one.

After using a Surefire for about a year and having trouble getting batteries and the cost of them if I had to purchase my own I decided to go the AA Led route. Much more effective cost and supply wise on batteries for mundane everday tasks.

Now my surefires are only used for my weapon lights.

BTW both will fit in a Specter Gear ASP Baton pouch if you are looking for a belt pouch.

If, and only if, you already have a stash of Eneloop batteries, look at the Zebralight SC80.

I have this. It was called P2D back in the day...had it 4 years, zero problems, not a lot bigger than chapstick and disappears in the pocket...very nice Chinese lights.

This is what I have and it works well.If you shop around you can find them for $130.00 or cheaper.I don't use the flashlight all the time mostly to walk the dag.I have had the Surefire for 2 years and have only replaced the batteries twice.I bought a 20 pack and a few 2 packs and still have them all,I over bought because I thought it was going to eat batteries,it doesn't.

I have been happy with my Surefire Fury.

Got it from http://brightflashlights.com/ I have been very happy with them, also.

I looked at the Streamlight ProTac HL, but decided on the Fury.

Both are about 500-600 lumens on high.  Much brighter than my previous pocket light which was a L4.

I loved my PD30... It's a glovebox light now.
Got a PD31... Basically same light, able to use 18650 rechargeables though (score!)
Pondering a PD32 now as a spare to the 31.

i have a 5.11 ATAC A2. Uses AA batteries.

Was buying new boots the other day, got a deal on it. Kind of an impulse buy, my last light disappeared somewhere in TX. I was carrying a fenix AA light. This one's pretty solid and seems to work well. 160ish lumens on bright.. not deathly bright or anything but plenty effective. has a low mode and strobe, too.
