What is it with that state?

2 Teen Girls Kidnapped in S. Calif.
Thu Aug 1,10:22 AM ET

LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - A man kidnapped two teenage girls at gunpoint early Thursday from a lovers' lane in a remote area, authorities said.

Tamera Brooks, 16, and Jaqueline Marris, 17, were sitting in separate cars with male friends when the gunman approached them shortly after 1 a.m., authorities said.

"It's a life-and-death situation," Los Angeles County sheriff's Capt. Tom Pigott said. "We're just trying to locate these young girls."

The gunman tied up one of the males to a post with duct tape and blindfolded him before leaving with the girls in a brown and white Ford Bronco that belonged to one of the males, authorities said.

The girls apparently did not know each other or their abductor, authorities said. Neither man was injured.

"He told me he was going to kill me but he didn't want to," the 18-year-old man who had been tied up told KNBC-TV of Los Angeles. "He just kept telling her to stay down, keep her head down, don't look at him."

Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Efflandt said the man poured gasoline over one of the vehicles, apparently trying to torch it, but was unsuccessful.

Sheriff's investigators said the man, in his mid-30s to early 40s, left behind a vehicle that was reported stolen in a Nevada carjacking Nevada. No other details were immediately available.

A command post was set up and sheriff's deputies notified the FBI ( news - web sites) and the U.S. Border Patrol about the missing girls.

Lancaster is about 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

WTF is up with all the kidnappings recently? Is this the new "in" thing with perps?

I think it's just become a newsworthy topic since the Smart kidnapping.  It's like the shark attacks of last summer.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

Good thing Kalifornia has all those gun laws, otherwise the girls or their boyfriends might have been armed and able to protect themselves from this scumbag. [:(!]

Good thing guns are all but illegal in Kali.
Otherwise, those two guys may have been able
to alter the outcome a bit.  Luckily, though,
they couldn't or they may have hurt that poor,
wayward kidnapper fellow.  Hey, wait, he had a
gun!!  Oh, that's not his fault, it is because
the system has been keeping him down.

Seriously, though, they're going to tell me the
witnesses saw enough to determine the perp was
in his 30's to 40's but didn't see what color
he was?  No other details on the description??
No wonder these people get away in Kali., the
news is too busy trying not to profile to
broadcast information that is truly valuable.
No one gives a shit what the 18-year old told
the girl.  What the fuck did the guy look
like?

We're all aiding and encouraging these crimes
by hobbling ourselves with bullshit political
correctness and touchy-feely liberal garbage.

until they enforce strict laws (death penally)
for these types of crimes, you'll continue to see sick acts of violence.

sad, very sad

The police recommend that you cooperate with your aggressor. You stand a better chance of survival by not agitating the perp.

Sorry, but gun or not, I'd have taken a shot at saving my girlfriend.  No fucking way would I hand her over to some piece of shit to do who knows what with!  I hope this story ends ok so these guys don't end up realizing that they could have done something to save their gf's.

However, having taken only the girls, I think we're pretty fucking far from ok on the ending.

These guys are idiots. I would have tried to save the girls. I bet the girls, if they come out of this okay, will dump these guys for not trying to help them.

Yeah well, I would kill or be killed before anyone got me headed to the infamous "secondary location."

I don't care if I have to do it with my fingernails, that guy is not coming out unscathed.

Victim mentalities make me ill.

I gotta weird feeling about this case. I had a weird feeling about it one second after I heard it on the news.

Call me weird, but I have an idea that the boyfriends in this case know a little more than what they're telling.

I'm NOT saying they planned it, just that something seems not right.

Hmm.

Yeah, this about sums it up. At the least I would have went down fighting.

We will know more when they find the bodies.

What we need is a federal law stipulating a mandatory death penalty for any/all  violent crime...  This would seriously deter some of these human filth!

Did anyone see fox news this morning, they had this H.Miller guy on and he was saying that the girls were taken to fill an "order" and are probably going to be taken to Tijuana Mexico for the purpose of making exploitation in teen porn. What a moron.

Actually, all they need to do is make kidnapping illegal.  That is how you prevent crime.  Oh, what?  It's already against the law?  That can't be right.  What the hell?

Doesnt happen just in California.  What state do you think Amber came from of Amber alert fame?  Or better yet, look at all the cases in the Houston area where the amber alert was used, some nothing, some still unsolved http://www.amber-plan.net/default.asp

Sickos are everywhere, California just attracts more press

Speaking for myself, hell yes I was packing when I was a teenager. A S&W Mod 39,and no I didn't pull any of that school shooting crap either! So in my case a kidnapper would have had hell to pay!!

see, if the law allowed for responceable teens to carry, then we wouldnt have to wait for daddy and mommy or the police to save us.  Now i know your next question is, how do we determan a respncable teen.  well,  taking a look at their records...IE: criminal, Driving...and also making them take a indepth law class aswell as proper training.  Now if every kid in america grew up with proper training, then we would be hearing as much from the people who say, "ban it for the children."

ofcourse i do expect many of you to disagree, but thats just my 2 cents.  dont get me wront though, some rejected teens just arnt responcable enough to carry.  infact, most probably arnt. but the few who are should be able to.

You remind me of a buddy of mine in Michigan. This happened a few years back and like you, he always had his S&W with him which he carried in the small of his back. I don't know which model S&W. Anywho, he went out on a first date with a clerk from the local hardware store. Cute little thing from what I remember. The date was going well and they seemed to hit off. After dinner and dancing, he took her back to her place. She invited him in and he couldn't believe his luck. They went into her bedroom and started to make out. He evidently was flying high and she was getting quite randy. He tested his luck and started to take off her blouse. She let him and he was going for it. She started to undress him and, of course, found the gun. She freaked out and kicked him out of her place. He told me the story the next day and I was laughing my ass off. [:)]

A mandatory death penalty for any/all violent crime. Hmmm. Two 19 year old college students get in a fist fight. Kill them both. Riiight.

I actually support the death penalty for appropriate offences, first degree sexual assault being at the top of my list. But, I find your statement to be just a wee tad broad. Ever been in a fight? If you were out with your wife, and some a**hole started verbally harrasing her, would you be tempted to punch him? That, sir, would be a violent crime. To the gallows with you!

What you described does not constitute a violent crime...

Obviously TraumaBoy, I am referring to a premeditated act which is carried out for the sole purpose of harming another individual.  If you go to a bar looking to kick somebodies ass (anybody), than yes, to the gallows with them!

They're still in high school.  They're probably not old enough for a concealed permit.  And to mention living in the wrong state.
