Ha! I used to have his calendars back in the 70's when I was a D&D nerd. I think I read every Conan book as well. Sweet.

I think he is. I love this guys work.
There is something so Primal about it, as if to say"Underneath all Human Endeavor lays this type of existence" Notice how the skeleton is behind and the man is looking forward. Notice how the skeleton is actually holding the ax like a rudder. Notice how the sail is actually so thick that it appears concrete. Notice how the sail makes you take a breath and hold it and is completely full Notice how the man on the front of the boat makes you feel complete. He is leaning into it, he is totally in command. He has it going on. But he will still die in the end as the skeleton behind in the boat shows. Its just fascinating |

Frazetta's work is referred to, generically, as [i]Tits and Lizards[/i]. I think he even entitled one of his works so. [:D]
As a matter of fact, do a Google search using the above as keywords. |

Franks study of the heroic male, especially in battle scenes, is far and away superior to Vallejo. JMHO. |

Frazetta's work is amazing! The imagery is breathtaking and ominous, dark yet proud.
Anyone know if there's a coffee table book with his work in it? Oh, for those of you that like Frazetta's genre, there's a new book in Video game stores called "The Art of Warcraft" with the drawings and screen shots from the PC games... some of the CGI they did for the new Warcraft III is breathtaking! |

I've got a bunch of those books lying around from when I was younger, and seeing the fazetta painting above reminded me so I did a google search :) I think the Rogers has stopped writing and is illustrating/painting full time now, though. Which is kinda a shame. |
