Correct me if I'm wrong.

Zero with the 25 yard zero target at 36 yards, then confirm at 300?

Is this correct? Thanks!

You Battle Sight Zero at 1000 inches. You'll still probably have to tweek your dope at 300 yards.

(1000" = 83'4" = 25m)

It's been a long time since I did the BSZ on my A2, but it seems to be correct still. Nice to have irons that can tolerate a little banging around.

OP: also note that the 1000"/25/300 zero is most-correct for a 20" barrel with 55gr ball. A 16" bbl with differing-weight ammo is going to be ... less correct.

What is the height from bore to the ground?

And again the height from the Bulleye to the ground?

I would guess that have to be the same, right?

It's better than nothing or standing there wringing your hands in an emergency when the rifle is needed. So it doesn't quite reach the level of stupid, but it's certainly not the best method by a long shot.

It's similar to the Maximum Point Blank Range zero that is popular with hunters.

I certainly agree with that. I still remember my BSZ for the A2 I had at basic, down 3 right 4, and it is an effective zero.

As you alluded to, though, there's a much, much better solution that should've been implemented decades ago.

I think it's pretty well established that 50/250 IBZ is a far better BSZ for combat that 25/300. Pretty sure Pat Rogers wrote a great article on it in SWAT. The ballistic chart (IBZ) is in the link posted above. Basically, you zero at 50, and you have a +/- 2" or so from muzzle to 250m, while the 25/300 BSZ has -1"/+7"-ish from muzzle to 300m.

For iron sights, for an RCO you confirm at 100.

Why has nobody mentioned how simple it is to zero 8/3 or 6/3 at 36/300 after making the adjustment if necessary so that you have 8/3-2 or 6/3-4 for 50/200? You have all that you should need there.
