I've heard this in Military movies all my life, so what's the distance in feet or miles. Please don't tell me using the metric system as in (mm) When I was in school they didn't even teach the metric system. Yea I'm pretty old the Vietnam war ended just as I turned 18. I had already registered for the draft.

I could be wrong, but isn't a "click" the term for 1 kilometer (1000 meters)? When I was in the Army in Germany we called a kilometer a "K", 5 k's = 5 kilometers.

"Klick" answer has been nailed by others.

I do have 2 questions:

1. What does "klick" have to do w/ Hall of Heros?

2. Last draft was in 1973, I recall this 'cus I was drawn (my birthdate) 18th. Vietnam ended in 1975, if I'm not mistaken. Was registering for the draft still mandatory in 1975?

1974 was the last year that you had to regester for the draft.
Thats the year I graduated.
They did reinstate the draft a few years later but not sure what year.
My brother is 3 years younger than me but not sure if he had to regester or not.

As Osprey said, all males reaching the age of 18 must register for selective service whether there is a draft going on or not.  Been the law for as long as I know.

Yes a click is 1 km(according to Canadian slang).
If it was some sort of sniper movie that referenced it, a click could be 1/4 MOA.  Which is about 1.05 inches at 100 yards I believe.

If refering to a scope adjustment, it is 1/2 to 1/4 of an MOA depending upon the sight system in question.  An MOA is 1/60th of a degree, it can be further subdivided into seconds of angle (60 to a minute).  In practical use a minute is just a little over 1 inch at 100 yards, 2 inches at 200 yards, 3 inches at 300 and so on.  1 click on most sniper grade optics would be equal to .25 MOA or about 1/4 inch at 100 yards, a half inch at 200, 3/4 at 300 and so on.

But probably you were refering to a linear distance in travel in which case your answer is in the posts above.
