Rothsay Recycling is the only rendering plant in the province. It transports dead stock from 6,600 Manitoba farms and animal remains from numerous restaurants. Its plant processes just over four million kilograms of animal remains weekly.

'...and animal remains from numerous restaurants..'????
Remind me to take a sack lunch if I ever go anywhere in Canada! [:D]
They seem to have this thing about 'animal remains' at their restaurants!

Eric,
I work for a company that makes rendering centrifuges for companies like these. Only thing is, all of our customers are American companies. The chicken companies(Tyson, Fieldale, etc.) run all the parts left over from the slaughter house and feed the "soup" to the chicks. I was told that it takes 6-7 weeks for the chicks to be full grown and have their turn at the chopping block.
Truth be known, the blood centrifuges smell worse than the rendering machines ever could. The only reason these machines come back to our plant is usually because they are locked up. Nothing like putrified blood and maggots to whet your appetite before lunchtime!
