Hey if it only goes up a penny a day I am still making more than 5% a day on my investment.
I will take that over 2%APR on a savings account or maybe 5%APR on a CD |

I think WC is going to dig itself out. Imagine the winfall if the stock goes back up to its former value! If you buy $35 worth of stock and actually get the stock certificate, if the company TANKS completely, you can still sell the stock certificate for $40 on Ebay and STILL make a profit! That's what I'm doing! I'm buying for everyone I know, then cashing in and doing it again. The expended stock certs are worth far more than the actual stock!
Look up "Enron stock" on ebay and see what they are going for. |

I'm betting justice will NOT charge the corporation with crimes, but will only charge individuals. If the corp. is charged, it will probably go belly up (we lose all). I don't think justice will do this as the # of jobs lost would be high, also "national security" issues will keep worldcom afloat. Lucky us.
Creditors meeting has been scheduled for Monday. |

So for us newbie investors, what's a good starting investment 10,000 shares? [:D] This is like stock options without waiting. |

I just bought 1100 shares 0.18, as that was all I could spare right now... I'm praying it goes up at least a couple of bucks within the next few months. If they fully rebound, which is what most are expecting, then we'll be sitting on a nice little sum of $$$, for our $200 investment. [:D]

If it goes up in value, say $25-30 in the next couple of years, do the math. There IS the chance to lose all you put in, Keep in mind, the company has about a 3-1 asset to debt ratio, and 30 billion in revenue/year. BTW, I'm a newbie investor too.. |

I'm liking the WorldCom stuff too. With the AMT of shares I have now in WCOEQ, if it goes up to about 1.00 I'll have made a small fortune (in the eyes of a college student).

I posted something to this effect on Monday.... I knocked $2K on Monday alone on the day trade. However, it's too soon to take a large position for a portfolio hold. As soon as they announce the receivership trustee and appoint new management after presenting the reorg plan, you will have a better idea of what to expect.
Ultimately, they are a viable business with assets, customers, and cash flow. They will reorg and survive either alone or as an acquisition. Either way, the share price will be significantly higher than what it is trading at today. HOWEVER, part of the reorg plan could involve one or more strategies that will essentially fuck over existing shareholders. That's why I say it's too soon to buy and hold. You can still make good $$ on it by playing the fast trade if you have any cajones. If it backs off under .10/ share then I will jump on the ticker again. However, with 142,867,392 shares traded today alone @ 3pm, it's not likely. The price will continue to hold within a narrow band of high and low until the volume drops off. Then the guys who waited will start to get nervous and dump their positions. Price falls as they take the cash. The bears will be hiding in the cave to step in again. |

Agreed; the debtholders, especially the secured creditors, will get the lions share of the payout. If this follows the usual pattern the existing equity holders i.e. shareholders will get the shit end of the stick, and AFAIK there's no reason to expect this situation to be any different. At the very least expect a substantial dilution of the existing shares. If you want to buy 100 shares to have some fun go ahead, but if you're seriously looking to make money from a buy-and-hold strategy this is a terribly risky way to do it. |

WCOEQ, they changed it recently, double check by doing a search on a financial website.
I'm in too, but only 500 shares. I have to check in with Datek to see at what price. But it's only like 95+ bucks total. I won't be sad if it goes down but I will be very, very happy if they do recover and become a solid company again. We'll see what happens. |

I'm betting on a reorg and a bump to $3 by year's end. I think this one is different than Enron and I've got a good feeling about investing. Not to mention the REAL tangible value of stock in hand! Get enough WC stock certificates and you'll recover your loss if it goes belly up!

As of the first 10 minutes of trading this morning, there have already been over 14 million shares of WCOEQ traded...
Last evenings news announced that the government is going after the [b]people[/b], more than the company as a whole, so that should work in our favor in a huge way. This is the news everyone has been waiting for. Today just could be the day! |

I gotta admit, this is pretty fun, and considering I am only into it for 1k shares, Its a lot cheaper for me than a few hours at a casino when the dice are not rolling my way.
The potential payoff is much better too I think if things to happen to work out. Forst time ever I have had a stock ticker on my desktop. Kind of fun to keep an eye on the price during the day.
