For some reason I decided to look at the moon with my spotting scope, its nearly full here.

After looking at it I have decided that its definately made out of swiss cheese [rolleyes]

Yep, I've done that in my front yard. After ahile I had a whole bunch of the neighbor's kid watching it also. You can see a lot of detail on the moon even though my scope is only 25X.

One of the perks of living out here in western Kansas is the lack of light polution. I've used my spotters to look at the moons of Jupiter many times - the first time you show one of your kids that, or let them look at a comet through a scope, and hear them gasp in amazement, it's pretty neat.

I looked at it through the scope on my Sendero.

I had a hard time using the mil-dots to estimate the distance.

For the life of me I just couldn't get a group...

I mean not just a sub-moa group

or a centered group...

I couldn't get on [s]paper[/s] moon at all !!!!

Windage wasn't a problem, heck, there wasn't any wind at all !

It must be the drop, I guess. [:D]

Well, if you stopped using that cheap Wolf .223 and tried some real Lake City M193, you'd have the velocity you need.
