Do people actually win such things?
Publishers Clearing House.....WTF are they and why do they give away so much money? Ever know a winner? |

An old guy down the street from me won it once, but died before the second annuity check showed up.

Considering that I make $0 /week now, 5 grand a week would be sweet.

I know the owner of PCH. She was sued a number of years ago due to tricking people to sign up and then not actually have a winner. She is a huge contributer to the arts scene in SRQ. One of the actors she sponsored was a part of the class action suit against her.

I'm pretty sure that that would not cover a large mocha-frappa-nut-achino a day from Dutch Brothers habit. Still gonna be pimpin' yourself out for the extra shot. |

Would build a boat with a 50cal on it.
Would be moose, walrus, bear hunting boat. |

Quoted: That's only 20+ k a month. Who wants that. Still have to work. Pfft. YOU might have to. That'd set me up very well indeed. Instant retirement, no worries about money, and given my habits, absolutely no chance that I'd spend it faster than it came in. No, I am adept at living in comfort on a small budget. My small fortune would only grow, and grow, and grow. I'm anything but a big spender. CJ |

I might be able to build the house I want with 5k a week for life but I'd still need to work cover "running" costs. |

The expenses sneak up, even if you're zealously watchful. I know people who make twice that and still have bills, money problems, living paycheck to paycheck, etc. It's always easier to spend the money faster than it comes in than it is to stay on a budget. |

Why would you need to invest it? I mean...it's for life. And now...for your child's life as well.... Because even as the bills stack up (NOBODY is going to live on $20K per month when they can borrow against that revenue stream), inflation will be eating away at it. If you divert half to investments, live off the rest, and not get yourself in too much trouble, you could maintain a standard of living. If you start off living off of all of it, you'll quickly get used to it, make "just one" big purchase... and it's all downhill from there. |

I'd keep working, but I wouldn't feel I really had to anymore. But I would keep working, since I make good money and like my job. I'd live off my paycheck, and throw the winnings at my mortgage. Once my debts were all paid off, I'd supplement my income with part of the winnings and sock most of it away as a reserve/retirement nest egg.

Quoted: 5K a week? Damn the UPS driver would hate me Wouldn't all that stuff go via freight instead? |

Didn't Ed McMahon lose his mansion (he was their front man) to foreclosure right before he died? It all seems suspect to me.
