Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - NYS Pistol Permit Question

Planning on heading to Long Island this weekend and was considering carrying.  My permit says not valid in NYC.  Not planning on actually stopping in the City, but not sure in 87 actually passes through or around.  I'm guessing I might be better off having the gun unloaded in a case for this leg of the trip as I know I am safe if passing through the City with the gun unloaded and locked in a container.

Does the NYC prohibition apply to the Island?  I have heard yes and I have heard no.

there LI & NYC are simular but different. once you get passed nassau into suffolk counties you'll run across to problems with LEO's. that far out on the island hand gun laws usually mimic upstates ccw laws. i'll get back to you if need more info
