assuming he's guilty, i cant decide whether he should be just executed, or handed over to the general population. what a dilemma.

Hope he fries.  Better yet, hope he's released into the general population of the prison while the guards get called away for an emergency somewhere else.

Set a new standard for cruel and unusual punishment: Stake him out on a nest of fire ants. Then toss a hive of africanized bees on him. After that, cattle prods will seem like a day at the country club.

Lake Elsinore Man Questioned in Girl's Slaying
By CHRISTINE HANLEY and JACK LEONARD

July 19 2002, 9:36 AM PDT

Detectives today awaited the results of forensic tests to determine whether
there is a link between the murder of 5-year-old Samantha Runnion and a
27-year-old Lake Elsinore man.

Alejandro Avila was being detained by Orange County Sheriff's officials at a
hotel while they served search warrants at his apartment not far from where
Samantha's body was discovered as well as at his mother's apartment and his
workplace.

Avila has not been arrested, and Sheriff's officials have yet to identify him as
their prime suspect.

But "I think it's safe to say that we've narrowed our field of investigation to
several people, and that this puzzle is coming together and every minute we're
getting closer to solving this crime," Sheriff Michael Carona said in an
interview today on NBC's "Today" show.

In a phone interview early today, Avila denied that he had anything to do with
the girl's kidnapping and murder. Avila said detectives questioned him for 12
hours Tuesday, and he told them he was at an Ontario mall Monday evening when
the kidnapping occurred.

Avila said detectives told him they found tiny fibers on Samantha's body that
are considered key evidence. They planned to keep him under detention through
the weekend, he added.

Avila's mother, Adelina Avila, also said he is innocent. "I know he didn't do
it," she said.

Police officers and forensic criminalists spent much of this morning collecting
evidence at the three locations. They confiscated three cars, a computer,
bedding, clothing, shoes, telephone bills, garbage bags and other items.

Samantha was snatched from outside her condominium in the northern Orange County
city of Stanton. Detectives believe the kidnapper held her for several hours,
sexually assaulting and eventually asphyxiating Samantha sometime Tuesday.
Officials suggested the girl fought back, scratching her attacker's face and
arms.

Her body was found in the open off a mountain road in the Cleveland National
Forest. The killer posed the body in such a way that the FBI believes it
amounted to a "calling card" and a warning that he would strike again.

Officials said they've gathered physical evidence, including DNA samples and
tire tracks. The assailant is described as a Latino man with slicked-back black
hair and a mustache who was driving a green car, possibly a Honda or Acura.

Over the last two days, officers stopped dozens of men in green cars,
interviewed scores of convicted sex offenders and fielded more than 1,000 calls
from across the United States.

An FBI profile of the killer concludes he might kill again soon. Based on the
profile, Sheriff Michael Carona said he believes the man is still somewhere in
Southern California and may live, work or have family in Orange County.

Officials would not say how many tips have produced solid leads but urged the
public to keep calling. Authorities interviewed as many as 50 people who could
become suspects, arresting some on unrelated charges and outstanding warrants.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Orange County
Sheriff's Department at (714) 890-4280.

Have an elephant step on his head slowly until it burst.

Of course got to find him guilty first.

I always thought the serial killer profile is most white male, I guess this is one that will throw that out of the window.

What! Most white males fit the serial killer profile? Outrageous and needlessly offensive!

According to the news conference just held, he was indeed just arrested.

Heavenly Father, please see that justice is done in this case.  Please endow these officers with insight, wisdom, and vigilence so that if this man is the monster we've been looking for he gets the justice on earth he deserves, and is subject to your judgement soon enough.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

If he is found guilty...and sent to prison. Put him into the general population, is the right answer. Not sure if anyone else has worked with inmates or prisoners in the correctional facilities but, they HATE perverts...especially those who prey on children. At least that is my observation.

Killing is too good for him,

Man Arrested in Samantha's Slaying
By CHRISTINE HANLEY and JACK LEONARD

Detectives this morning arrested a 27-year-old Lake Elsinore man in connection
with the kidnapping and murder of 5-year-old Samantha Runnion.

Alejandro Avila has been detained by Orange County Sheriff's officials since
Thursday. Late that day detectives served search warrants at his apartment, not
far from where Samantha's body was discovered, as well as at his mother's
apartment nearby and his workplace in Temecula.

"At 9:55 a.m., we made an arrest," Orange County Sheriff Michael Carona said in
a brief press conference this morning. He thanked his colleagues in the
Riverside County Sheriff's Department and the FBI for their help in the
investigation.

In a phone interview early this morning, Avila denied that he had anything to do
with the girl's kidnapping and murder. Avila said detectives questioned him for
12 hours Tuesday, and he told them he was at an Ontario mall Monday evening when
the kidnapping occurred.

Avila said detectives told him they found tiny fibers on Samantha's body that
are considered key evidence.

Avila's mother, Adelina Avila, also said he is innocent. "I know he didn't do
it," she said.

Police officers and forensic criminalists spent much of early Friday collecting
evidence at the three locations. They confiscated three cars, a computer,
bedding, clothing, shoes, telephone bills, garbage bags and other items.

Samantha was snatched from outside her condominium in the northern Orange County
city of Stanton. Detectives believe the kidnapper held her for several hours,

The composite that the little girl did looks just like him.

On the 911 call they played, the guy was freaking out.  He sounded like he soiled himself when he found the body.  Must have been a gruesome sight.

Prison is not enough for the scumbag that did this.

He looks a lot like the sketch and drives a green car. Although it's a T-bird not a Honda or Acord. There should be a lot of forensic evidence available since it involved a sexual assault.

His aliby is weak too, "window shopping" with no purchase reciepts. He also has a prior arrest for child molestation but was later aquitted. If he is guilty, they'll find out real soon.

Anyone that commits a crime like that deserves a shotgun blast to the groin with BB magnum loads and then have rock salt and alcohol rubbed into the wound. He should live the rest of his life without genitals and a permanent urine catheter.

I would first cut his nuts off, then cut his pecker off 1/2" at a time til there's none left, then give him a mexican necktie, all on primetime national tv, no mercy for people like this, NONE.

I'd like to see the scumbag invited to be "Special Guest of Honor" at Bulletfest IV.  All other attendees would be asked for a generous donation to a scholarship fund established in Samantha's memory before they are allowed on the firing line.  Let the fun begin!
