Okay, let's see...

- The polls show that the democraps are returning to pre-9/11 popularity levels in the congress when rated on the old stand-bys; economy, education, etc., etc...

- The economy seems to be going strong, yet Wall Street is in the shitter and flushing fast. A confidence problem, to be sure, but still a problem...

- If the libs hold the senate and/or house after November, kiss your AW's goodbye...

- It seems as if the gov know that there's a terrorist under every rock in the US, but doesn't seem to be turning over the right rocks...

- We have a rash of children being kidnapped, raped, murdered, or just dissapearing...

Is it just me, or is the country that I love so dearly going completely to Hell, regardless of the presence of a handbasket?

Geez, I feel low...

Realistic. But Wall Street will rebound.

Realistically pessimistic.  But then again, regardless I think we will see a renewal of the AW ban.  Whether they come after what we have now is the question.

Every other rock.  Look what about 200 IRA thugs were able to do to the English.  Our country is vastly larger and more populated.  Just 200 terrorists could wreak havoc here and be exponentially harder to stop.  Realist.

Unfortunately, pessimist.  What no one seems to realise is the actual volume of this kind of crap.  The media is hounding after it now because it's the "Crime of the month."  It happens a lot.  Perhaps not as brazenly as the most recent incidents, but it is not rare.  There are some sick fvckers out there.

It's certainly changing.  As with most changes, some are good some bad.  At this point I'd say the majority of change is bad, but hopefully something good will come out of it.  But then, I'm a pessimist myself.  As R.A. Heinlein put it, "The worst part about living in the declining age of a great civilization, is knowing that you are."

It may be simple, and it may be overused, but:
"Tough times don't last.  Tough people do."

I'm toughing this out, like every generation before me has.  Let's not be the first generation of Americans to give up.

I can't and won't give up because I have two little girls that I'll be setting loose in this world earlier than I'd like.

But I'll freely admit I feel like Genral Custer here....

I don't see how.. I don't think this is true.

The loss of that much wealth is not a good thing and will eventually slow the ecenomy down as what used to be cashing stock in for big ticket items slows

Yep I know what you mean.. I don't know what is going on. There is something bad in the wind that is for sure. Hopefully 5-7 years from now we will be able to look back and say, "Damn I wonder what in the hell that was about?!"

For every demo positive poll there's an equally positive repub poll. The biased press only spews the negatives. Bush's only drop in popularity has come on the economy/Enron issue which cannot be attributed to him. During the last year of Klinton's tour he was absent (gone from the country more than any other president in history) leaving Greenspan at the helm. Companies petitioned for a drop in interest rates so they could reinvest their monies in new product research and development. The American people had already purchased their TV's, their cars, their lawn mowers, etc. and had no incentive to go out and buy new. Greenspan balked and kept interest rates artificially high. This created an environment where it was, dare I say, almost necessary for companies to cook the books and falsely portray strong earnings, for better or worse.

The market was inflated to begin with and is simply readjusting itself. People need to stop being so naive and realize that playing in the market is no different than walking into a casino; it's a gamble.

They're not going to take the House (and I'll never turn in my guns).

Again...the fear factor used by the liberal press to upset the people and portray the Bush administration as inept. IT IS likely that there are cells in the US but I'm 99% confident our boys will route them out.

Thankfully this number is down from 2000/2001. There will always be sicko's out there.

Have faith!

Edited to say as we come closer to an election year things are going to SEEM even more worse to you. Remember, the press is liberally biased and actively pursues any avenue of casting doubt/concern on Republican administrations no matter who the President is. The democrats (mainly Daschle & Gephardt) know they have absolutely nothing of substance to run on and will be spreading more falsehoods, fear and outrageous stories/claims. Don't believe them. The country IS strong thanks to the working men and women who are the real backbone of our economy AND thanks to our military.
