Years afterwards, my daughter and I tried to hike into the spot where I broke my right humerus. After a couple of days on the trail, we had to change our plans because of our dogs' paws. We called the trip good enough re-routed over easier terrain with more rest days for the dogs. [remember, for every mile you hike, your dog might hike three: run ahead, run back, run ahead, repeat] I have a plate and 5 pins, and the radial nerve runs over the plate. I can throw a football and rock climb just fine, but am incapable of throwing a baseball, shifting a Jeep Wrangler into 5th gear and bowling with my right arm. For anyone who's seen the movie 127 Hours, yes, that's what the radial nerve feels/sounds like when you pluck it. |
