Are the swords on shop at home TV actually any good? I am thinking of buying for some wall hangers but I don't want something that looks crummy and falls apart in your hands.

For the most part Shop At Home sells Frost Cutlery and grossly overstates their value. I can't say for sure if Jim Frost has a hand in SAH but they are both in Chattanooga and both of their warehouse managers names are Jerry.

Here are the top choices in Shinken and Iaido swords. (Iaido swords are for practice, Shinken are considered "live blades" and most Martial arts instructors worth their salt will tell ya that only swords made in Japan constitute the real-deal.)

PS - Oh yeah, most of the home shopping stuff I suspect is typical gunshow crap.

Not sure I'd trust that this is anything close to being a real sword as I stated above an Iaido is a training sword generally made of zinc/aluminum alloy and will NOT stand up to any abuse other than non-contact training. And the poster of the description doesn't even know the proper name for the temper line, (which is "Hamon"), I'd pass on this one.

i have no doubt if Lynn Thompson sells them they are high quality and very tough.

These guys ([url]www.starfireswords.com[/url]) are nearby to me and we went to thier shop.  Cool stuff but they won't put a decent edge on it for liability reasons.  We asked if they test thier stuff out and they had us pick a sword off the rack, they wigged out and chopped the anvil with it. Messed up the edge a bit but was damn impressive.

They call all thier stuff decorative or for stage use but it is some of the better stuff I have seen.  As posted above Museum Replicas has lots of good swords as well but some of it is great and some is marginal.  Alot of the Museum Replica stuff is made overseas but Starfire swords are very inexpensive for American made.  At least worth the phone call.
