While driving through town I saw two city cops handcuffing an tall young man. No guns were drawn that I saw but the kid was without a shirt. No big deal since it is somewhere near 100 degrees. But the dude was wearing black & white prison strip PJ pants!!??

I didn't think they issued them anymore. We have a minimum security work camp here, but last I knew they issued orange jump suits.

I wonder where this guy came from. Should make an interesting story in next weeks paper.[:D]

Sounds like a scene out of that movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"

That's crazy.
Do the prisoners in your area still wear those striped duds?

Kinda' what it looked like too. [:D]

The local state "guests" wear orange jumpsuits. The county jail is 25 miles away and I really don't know what the prisoners there wear.

Unless the cops were beating the cuffed guy they are a bunch of fricking slackers.

The local LEA issues the black/white striped jumpsuits to all in their care.

The main reason is that our City/County maxi is about three blocks from Neyland Stadium (110k capacity) where the University of Tennessee Volunteers play their home ball. Their colors? Orange and white. Yep. It would be kinda hard for someone to spot an inmate during an escape on the random Saturday in the Fall.

They also issue them to the minimum threat inmates at that detention area which is about 20 miles out in the middle of nowhere. Why? Well you don't understand the civic pride these people have for their Volunteers. Orange all day, every day. It's almost a law.

Everybody was pretty calm about it. The dude just stood there with one or two cops cuffing him and the sargent was standing back a few steps, probably ready to slap leather.

None of the big city shenanigans, or is that shillelaghs? [;)]

There are several small prisons around here that use the stripped outfits. Saw some picking up trash on the side of the road this week. Havent seen any chain gangs in a while though

Here in GA they issue them white with a blue or orange stripe down the legs and these stupid
looking "crusher" style caps. Looks straight out of the '50s!

Found out this morning all local agencies issue the orange jumpsuits.

This is getting real curious now.

The County Sheriff in Maricopa County here has his boys in Black and White stripes, and pink underwear.  Gotta love it.

I also saw a kid at the mall with a fake inmate shirt. I must be getting old, I didn't know dressing like an inmate was cool. It did throw me for a minute, fortunately I decided to not sit on the guy and wait for the police.

Yup, I can't remember who makes them or what their called but there is a shirt some guys here in So Cal like to wear that the inmates wear.  Something bear or brown or something...

When I spent a week in Jail (long story) I wore the black and white stripes, everything (and I do mean everything) was made by Bob Barker company. Yes this is the same one who is on "The Price Is Right", turns out he makes money on the side be selling toiletries/clothing/stuff to County Jails and Prisons.

BTW, is that the "Fonz" on the left???

I agree!

A bit too much contrast on the guy in the hat, but still very nice!
