Ok, so The Empire Strikes Back is on right now and she knows I'm a huge nerd about it. Wellll now she wants to watch all of them, but we just had a huge argument about which order she is supposed to watch them in.
So, should she watch the 70's trilogy first or watch the new trilogy first? She will abide by whatever you guys say. |

Watch the fan edit of SW: ANH. It has all the best effects and Han shoots first! |
|
Oh, and tell you you'll only watch them with her if you are both nekkid.

Watch them in the order of release. Correct 4, 5, 6 They haven't released 1-3 or 7-9 yet I really hope someone takes the reigns from lucas and makes some good movies to complete the story line |

Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi There ya go. All done. |
|
Do not watch the prequels. They are literally some of the worst movies ever. Instead watch these:

How did you manage to find someone who hasn't seen them? She's not a science fiction fan |

From the hardcore nerd standpoint, watch the originals first. And not the goofed up ones, either.
From the contiguous storyline making some sort of sense standpoint, it would be logical to watch them in numerical order. But damn, that first one is tough to watch Quoted: Sounds like you have a lot of catching up to get her to do. Quoted: She's not a science fiction fanHow did you manage to find someone who hasn't seen them? I don't even know where to start... So much out there... You'd better tie her down to a chair in front of the TV and get it started, or you'll never finish! Does The Prisoner count as sci-fi, or is that just a funky british spy show? I think the wild technology they use puts it into the realm of sci-fi. |

New shit sucks. Skip it altogether. The original 3 are the ONLY 3!

4, 5, 6

Don't watch the prequels...EVAR!!! THIS!!!!!!!!!111111111111!! |

My wife would never sit down and watch any Star Wars movies with me. Be happy if yours does, and don't worry about what order you watch them in with her.
|
|
How is this is even up for discussion?
Of course you'd watch the new ones first....................................... |

There is no new trilogy. There is no new trilogy! Godfather 3 is Dead to me. |

Don't watch the prequels...EVAR!!! I agree in principal with this but every true SW fan should at least see them once. Whether we like them or not, they are Lucas's vision of what came before the 1977 film. |

New trilogy? What in sam fuck are you babbling on incoherently about?
I'm only aware of four legitimate Star Wars movies: Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi Space Balls |

I voted original. I liked the phantom menace though. After than, hayden christensen makes it unwatchable.

Not in theaters in 1977 The episode numbers started either with the theater release of Empire or Jedi, but I don't recall which. It became Episode IV with a release and the initial video tapes. |

Ever heard of Machete order?

How did you manage to find someone who hasn't seen them? She's not a science fiction fan Wait, so she's never seen them? Sir, you have an obligation to protect her from the new trilogy. She may be one of the few people left who still has a chance to enjoy the series the way it was meant to be with their mind untainted by the trash that is the prequels. I would give anything to rewind the clock to the 80's and early 90's and enjoy those movies in their original form again without the special edition edits, the prequels, or even the knowledge of them. I grew up a Star Wars nerd in the 80's and my interest absolutely tanked after the Phantom Menace. I still love the original trilogy but I can't get it out of my mind while watching it that underneath Darth Vader's mask is that pod racing angsty whiny limp-wristed pussy from the prequels. It was much better before those movies came out when you could imagine Anakin as being from the same mold as Obi Wan Kenobe but had just gone down the wrong path. |

That is actually pretty good. |
|
You know what? That's a goddamned fantastic idea. OP, you should go with that. 4, 5, 2, 3, 6, skip 1 entirely. It seriously adds nothing to the series and takes quite a bit away. And the flashback approach makes 2 and 3 actually fit into the series, not just rest as a separate quasi-related series. |

Episode 1 is important in showing how the republic is starting to fall and how the sith are influencing the Senate. Other than that, i may watch the movies in that order at a later date. |

Make her watch the Star Wars holiday special first. Happy Life Day! |

I'll be contrary and say do it in the order that Lucas intended. That way it will get better as you go along.
