This is a very touchy issue there. Unlike the over 800,000 Jews who either were forced to flee Arab countries in 1948 (Iraq,Egypt,Morocco,Libya and Algeria) or fled horrible living conditions (Yemen,Tunisia)The Russian Immigrants are either not religious or have little or no Jewish identity. By the way, the number of Palestinians that fled in 48 are almost equal the number of Jews booted out of the Arab countries. The Palestinians simply have reproduced at a far greater number since then. Anyway, the Jews from the Arab countries are mostly religious and kept a strong Jewish identity. The Russians, having come from a country were all religion was suppressed have intermarried and many came to Israel simply because they could not come here. Some could care less about Israel and many have little or no Jewish background, maybe a grandparent. Many of the Russian immigrants have engaged in organized crime and some have even collaborated with the terrorists. A Russian immigrant woman married to a Palestinian actually drove one of the suicide bombers to his target. So, their loyalty is in question. It's really not a religious question, more of a "can we trust these guys?" question. The descendants of Arab, Persian and Ethiopian Jews have been ferociously loyal soldiers. The Russian refuseniks of the 70s have also been loyal. It's the latest flood from the mid 80s to the present that have been the problem. There are a number of Christian Americans who have obtained Israeli citizenship and serve in the IDF like all citizens. They are few in number though. There are Jews, again mainly Russians who have joined the Messianic movement. They are not discriminated against as far as joining the IDF, but aren't allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetery as they are viewed as converts and no longer Jewish. They also aren't warmly received as dates for the kids of Jewish parents. Again, it's a touchy issue.

It is about time they did. ALL of the anti-abortion anti-semetic terrorist groups in the U.S. can be traced to a Christian and/or Christian Identity organization.
