you are asking, "where did he get the guns ?"

you apparently aren't too L.A. street smart are you ?

a gun can be bought from any "Banger", in fact i know of a fellow out there who is buying handguns at a pace faster than the "Bangers" bring them to him......, yaaaaa he knows they are stolen but in Commiefornia who cares ??

The only importance of WHERE is to prove what thinking people already know - Was he a terrorist?

Other than that it doesn't matter.  It has always been impossible to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.  Such people care nothing for law, background checks or anything else of the sort.  All attempts to disarm criminals have only resulted in disarming decent people.

As for the FBI, we already know they are only interested in what is best for them.  The public, the truth or America mean nothing to them.

What exactly are we to get from this "story"?  To me this is no different than what conservatives claim is media slant from the news media, except in reverse.  There is no factual basis for any claim in the story, at least not yet.  This is just a polished way to start a rumor and everyone knows that proving a rumor to be wrong is much harder than finding the truth to begin with.

Also, if this guy was an "Al Queda operative" why did he use handguns?  Wouldn't his aim be to kill as many people as he could?  Why not give him a couple of grenades?  Whatever you think of OBL's bunch, they aren't complete idiots.

Maybe the FBI hasn't said where the guns came from because we don't need to know yet.  Like it or not the American people cannot ask them to do a job and then watch every move they make and demand explanations for everything along the way.  No, they will not become the gestapo if left alone for 5 minutes.  Simply ridiculous.

No, I was more wondering why there was no clamor over where he obtained these. The fact that he got them in one of the strictest gun control states sure says a lot about those gun laws, but you won't see that on the news. It's similar to the FBI calling it not terrorism, PC bulshit spin to keep people in line.

Worthless article.  Repeat after me.  It does not matter where the guns came from.  What matters is that he had them in the first place.

He could have melted tupperware on the kitchen stove and molded the thing by hand,  it makes no difference to the final outcome.

As for the FBI/Police, Folks always think they know more about the job than the police.  I suppose they tell their doctor how to do a vasectomy or brain surgery too.

Now that I mention it,  the brain surgery scenario is all too likely for some people.

I agree with AA,  even if he is an Aggie.

Seems to me that he was a political, religious, & fanatical terrorist.  Why would he have chosen El Al & not another?  He was from Egypt & Muslim (though not a true Muslim or else he would not have done this) zealot...attacking against Israel & the Jews...& all he was able to do was kill two innocent people (may they rest in peace & may God bless them) who were hard working Americans...the freak was a total loser & got killed way too easily.  Better that he should have rotted in an Israeli jail for the rest of his life eating pork only.

If he is a legal resident of Calif/USA he can legally buy pistols at the local gun store. I think if he bought gun in Kalif, Kalif DoJ can look him up in their computer in a minute and find out what guns are reg'd to him and where he bought them. The LAPD/FBI/ATF is probably holding back some info because it could possibly make them look bad. I think they will release that info when this incident fades from most people's mind in a week or two.

Devil's advocate here:

They could be holding back info so that they don't tip off who they're going to go after.

There is no mystery here.

His guns were legal purchases made over the last few years since he came to the US.

Since 94 though as he had no high cap mags.

There is no lead there. What do you want? The NAME of the gun store?

This was all found out within the first 12 hours.

The New York Times published it on Saturday morning: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/06/national/06SHOO.html?pagewanted=print&position=top

The reason I wanted to know is because I thought it was SOP for the media to blah it all over the news where the culprit got his deadly weapons of mass destruction, immediately.  This time I didn't hear anything.

I guess the news media will only do it if reinforces their pre-concieved notions of what they're advocating, otherwise it is not "news worthy." I'm willing to bet that Hayadet obtained his Glocks legally and he used a legal 10rd mag, now if he used a deadly assualt weapon(ie an Uzi, AR15) the reporting will be a lot different. And also they probably may not want to draw attention to the failure of their gun laws and that someone could do such carnage using a Calif. legal weapon when the news media indoctrinated the masses that these laws would eliminate such crimes.

The politicos/news media would probably use this incident to somehow justify passing the $.05 per bullet tax on ammunition that is winding its way thru the PRK legislature as we speak.

the news reports talk about a glock and another gun
(Conviently not mentioning the name of the gun, because its the same that the cops carry?)

of course they HAVE to say GLOCK,
why?

MARK MY WORDS --- in the NEAR future antigunners will say its time to ban plastic guns and glocks, because they are the gun of choice for getting past airlines metal detectors.

yes i know this is an old subject and has proven 100% False, but the anti's dont care, and will probably push new anti-plastic gun laws in kalif.

Wow, I can't believe it, this guy had two handguns and never passed the Basic Firearms Safety Class.

Well, I'm sure the new handgun tests, starting in 2003, would have prevented him from obtaining guns.

BTW, according to Caliban law, this was a terrorist act.

OMG!  Please, Gray Davis, during your last few days in office, save us from the magazine-fed semiautomatic assault pistol!  No one needs anything over .22 rimfire!  No one needs a weapon that holds more than one bullet at a time!  No one needes a pistol with a pistol grip conspicuously protruding beneath the action of the weapon!  These weapons have no 'sporting purpose,' are weapons of war, and are designed to be spray-fired from the hip!  Innocents could be saved if only you would ban these evil things (with the appropriate exemptions for government flunkies, of course, so that when the time comes we can crush those 'individual rights' wackos under our bootheels and finally establish a socialist utopia)!

Ahh, business as usual:

Officers recovered the shooting weapon along with two assault rifles in the suspect's car. A search of Johansen's home turned up 3 pounds of marijuana, about $3,000 in cash and a semiautomatic assault pistol.

I'd like to suggest someone try that in Texas or another Shall Issue state, but then again, airports are "gun free zones".  I guess he at least demonstrated how well gun free zones work.
