The princess, Buniah al-Saud, a niece of King Fahd, does not have to be in court to face accusations that last December in
Orlando she pushed her maid down a flight of stairs, a Florida prosecutor said. Through her lawyer, Princess Buniah will be
allowed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of battery, pay a $1,000 fine and give a judge a letter of regret about
injuries to her Indonesian maid in the incident.

The maid, Ismiyati Soryono, whom the prosecutors had subpoenaed to testify against the princess, cannot be in court. After
she went home to Jakarta in May for her mother's funeral, the United States Embassy there denied her a visa to
return to Florida and testify on the grounds that she might try to stay in this country illegally.

Sounds just like the deal I'd get if the complainant was unable to make it to court.

Not sure of the "not having to appear," but defendants often are not present in court.

The missing injured party, however, seems to be a weak link that would destroy any case the prosecutor thought they had.

Here's your government at work...this is definately a conspiracy to prevent her from entering the country.  There's no way we could imprison a whore saud princess without major political problems.  Personally, i look at it this way...they're only muslims!
