Sunday again?  Already?  Well, alrighty then.

In Flames played a show here last night.

The setlist, as I looked up online, was absolutely terrible.

Let's listen to some old In Flames, shall we?

Can't wait for the new Overkill album next month!  Catching them in April at my favorite venue, too.

The only good Disastrous Murmur album...old school death metal.

I haven't given Graveworm a listen in a long time.

I'm remembering why.  This isn't bad, but it reminds me too much of Dimmu Borgir, which is a terrible band.

If you're a melodeath fan, check out these bands if you haven't.

This first one was the current drummer of In Flames old band.  I like them much more than new In Flames.  Fuck.

I'm in an old school death metal mood today.

This is still one of the best old school death metal albums ever recorded.

Thanks. I'll have to add those to my Pandora.

I'm also a big fan of:

Children of the Bodom
Norther
Wintersun
Ensiferum
Soilwork
Skyfire
Kalmah
Zonaria
Satariel
Callenish Circle
Sybreed

And a bunch of others that I would have never heard of without Pandora. Great workout music.

Sure is.

If you dig that vocal/instrumental style, you might also like Exhumation.  A melodeath band from Greece.  They pop up on my shuffle list from time to time.  Their lead guitarist started Nightrage after Exhumation broke up.  Lindberg from At The Gates (one of my favorite melodeath vocalists) was the singer for Nightrage for a while.

Yeah, I like both of those, but for some reason Exhumation doesn't show up on Pandora for me. I added Nightrage though. At the Gates is also an awesome band. I have some of their stuff on Pandora as well.

The lack of Exhumation doesn't really surprise me.  They were really, really underground (for lack of a better term).

At The Gates is one of my favorites.  I like them so much that I flew to Denver to see them play on the Suicidal Final Tour back in '08 (I think?).

MUSIC!

I think the bass player has his balls in a vise to get to some of those high notes.

It's not Sunday but I don't care.

As long as I avoid "cookie monster" lyrical stylings,  I'm finding that a lot of modern metal is very much to my liking.
