UPDATE: 2/9/12

Just called and spoke to the assistant chief of staff. This whole mess may have come from a misinterpreted conversation between staffers that was over heard in a public area. They aren't sure. the ACS assured me that Boehner is NOT going to try to stop the investigation and that he does not have the power to do so.

I spoke to another staffer for a different congressman who did tell me that the DOJ has floated the offer of a deal. This has happened more than once in the last couple of weeks. That also may be the source of the rumor. This same staffer did state that the White House is pushing very hard for deals that will strengthen the Presidents ability to push his agenda through such as the line item veto ability and an expansion on the scope of executive orders. This staffer suggested that the Senate needs a flood of calls to stop the line item veto passage RFN.

I'm going to change the title of the thread to reflect what I've been able to find out.

Also, edited to add: The calls they got in the last 24 hours has scared the shit out of them.

Edit: Since there has been so much done in the past decade to completely destroy personal liberty, I surmise this will go away with just a whimper and shaking of fists.

That's been the case since at least 1993. We need to put a stop to it one way or another.

I'm looking for other sources to confirm that Bonehead stopped the investigation. Nothing yet.
