Congressman: 1 in 10 Chance Congress Will Be Wiped Out
A senior Republican lawmaker told NewsMax that members of Congress are not oblivious to a major terrorist attack using a weapon of mass destruction against the Capitol.
Lawmakers have been told that the chance of most if not all of Congress being killed is 1 in 10, the congressman said.
The congressman said lawmakers are very aware of the threat and are keeping days in Washington to an absolute minimum.
"If you look at this session, it is the shortest number of days we've been in session in decades," he said, adding, "The idea is to get our work done and get out of town."
The congressman's remarks jibe with recent concerns by federal officials about a mass-destruction attack in Washington. This week, more than 25,000 gas masks, mainly for Congress and Capitol Hill aides, began arriving.
The masks could be used if a chemical attack is made upon Washington.
