Campy said there were going to be 60mm mortars there.  But that range doesn't look long enough for them to fire.  Were they just on display?

Thanks so much for the photos.

Great photos! (I could only see 5 of them, but outstanding!) Looks and sounds like you had a stellar time! Only wish I had been there myself.  This is another thing that makes America GREAT!  God Bless America!

I'll add my comments to this thread and my photos.  Plus a link to the rest of my photos.

First off, thanks Campybob.  Without you or the Mapleton Gun club, we couldn't have had a shoot.  I sure hope everyone who was there contributed GENEROUSLY!

Anyway, it was an eventful day.  I left Northern VA at 1am and arrived at 7am.  Setup my new sun shade (what a godsend) and checked out everyone's setup.  Btw, I was all the way down on the right... it was that packed at 7-8am.

The car caught fire after an hour or two and Miss Magnum and I rode down in Campy's truck to put out the fire.  Well, when we arrive it was too large to putout.  The heat was intense.

Tannerite was a crowd favorite until around 2:30pm, a huge explosion sent a ?? looked like a fire extinguisher about 100 yards into the air.  It was against the berm and it flew all the way over the shooters and landed ontop of an SUV.  Then bounced infront of the vehicle.  I saw it fly 1/2 of the way and yelled a warning.  Like anyone can hear over all the MG's.  I'm glad nobody was hurt, only a vehicle.

I left right after that. (I was packed before that, honestly. [:)])

There was one mortar there that I saw and it was on the far end of the range.  It wasn't a 60mm though.  It appeared to be either an 81mm or 82mm(Communist).  I didn't pay too much attention to it.  I saw him loading up charges for it and it looked like he had coffee cans(?) loaded with plaster/cement with fins.  Don't know if any were launched.  Mayby Maynard could shed more light on it.
Maynard, by the way, did you get to shoot the minigun?  I was afraid to ask how much so didn't bother.Anybody here get to fire that Suomi 20mm?

Hmmm, looking at these photos, it doesn't seem like a very multicultural event.  What can we do to diversify the next Bulletfest?  Make it look more like America?

Of course crap like this would come from someone from Kalifornia.

Yeah and next year have everyone hold their MAD GATS SIDEWAYZ! And if you punch with your hand as you shoot it will not only make your shots more accurate but will make the bullet go out faster! Come on boys lets see those Lorcins and MAC-10's!!
And yes I have room to speak on this subject as I was an R.O. for a year.

I was only able to attend for a couple of hours (due to work) but it was the most fun I've had in two hours.  (At least while standing up!!).  I will be sending a thank you letter to Mapleton Gun club, CampyBob, plus a donation to Mapleton.

Didn't get to play with a .50 or a minigun, but I did get to run 4 mags through an Uzi, two through an M-16 & got to "kill" several fire extinguishers with my Springfield M1-A (semi-auto).

Also had a good talk with the rep from "Ohioans for Concealed Carry", a fine organization of which I'm already a memeber.

Just one question.  There was a guy recording (video & audio) my conversation with the gentleman from OCCW.  Does anyone know who he was, or what media organzation he was from?

Thanks.

Steve

Actually if it happens in America it's very likely a "multi cultural event". I saw a least one person of Arabic descent, a few of Hispanic descent, Asian descent, Poles, Slavs, English, German, Irish, French, Nordic, Russian, Dutch etc. So we didn't get the "headliners", who cares? Theres more to the USA than the now 2nd largest group of minorities. Stop thinking the way the (lets feel bad about ourselves and make it worse by being divisive by attempting to look inclusive) liberals want you to think.

I guess you didn't stop by our tent.  I'm Asian along with three other friends that came with me.  But what's your point?  It's not like this shoot discriminateed on ethnicity.  This event was an open invitation to all - just show up and have fun.  What more could Campy have done to get it "lookng more like America" - start bussing people in?  Geez almighty - I guess the only thing I can complain about is that Campy only brought brats for lunch - would've been better if they had puppy, huh?

BTW - I second the vote for East Cleveland - would be a 2 minute drive for me instead of an hour and 15 minutes.  There are alot more cars to shoot up there.

Bulletfest wouldn't be much of an attraction there.  Most of what happened at Bulletfest is an everyday occurrence in East Cleveland.

Grows? We were shooting nearly shoulder to shoulder as it was. If grows any larger we will have to form ranks and shoot sitting kneeling and standing. It was a day filled with dodging hot brass, disintegrating links and the concussion of muzzle blasts. Can it possibly get any better?

I'm there is 03'

I'll even bring my bike so Campy can put his Campy gear up against my Shimano gear.

Are you referring to ths thing? Yes, he did launch a bunch of soup cans full of concrete, was launcing them WAY UP in the air and dropping in the vicinity of the car. I was there to see a bunch of rounds fly, he would go out and pick them up and fire them again.

I don't think they rented the Mini out. I didn't ask though.

the 20mm anti-tank rifle was not a finnish lahti (suomi), but rather, an austrian solothurn.

and yes, i got to take out a commie refrigerater with it. the optic was dead-on...even though i had to fire it right-handed (scope was ofset waaaaay left!).

the recoil was less than "managable"...no worse than a barrett m-82a1 really.

my thanks to the owner of this fine piece! i will always remember the thrill of using TWO FINGERS (big assed trigger, boys...and a rather hefty pull weight!) to touch off that 8' long monster!!!

CAMPYBOB,

You are correct my friend, my fault, I didn't get too close to that thing after I happened to be almost even with the barrel when it went off.  OOOOOOUUUUCCCHH!!!  It hurt and I even had plugs in!

Was in East Cleveland once, on the way to Cleveland Clinic and turned the wrong way ofo of Carneige.  Finally asked a fellow LEO who was directing traffic "where in the H3LL am I?"  He laughed and said East Cleveland.  He noticed the FOP plates and asked if I was carrying.  I said yes and he replied "good for you!"  Won't make that mistake again!

East Cleveland could be a better site, only problem besides what has already been mentioned here is that they shoot back.  Would be interesting though.

Thanks guys, I figured out who she(Miss Magnum) was.  When someone said she was R/O for a while I did remember then.

Miss Magnum,

Was that a .357 or .41 you and the other young lady were shooting next to me?

Yup - guilty on both accounts, grew up in central Joisey.

I'll scout out some potential locations in East Cleveland this coming week.  Some of my friends live in a high rise on top of the hill there ... would make a great vantage point if we occupied the roof.

bulletfest IS diverse!!! we are ALL americans, though!

there were people of many ethnic and cultural heritages there...but who would care?

we were all there to shoot and have fun together!

several "looked" of asian parentage. some spoke with accents. no big deal. we all were there for the same reasons!
