I've been searching like crazy but coming up empty. I remember a report was posted here somewhere that was a compilation of post-shooting ammo performance, listing a bunch of percentages like average numbers of rounds required to stop, average accuracy on threat and % of engagements resulting in death. Anyone know what the heck I'm talking about and manage to save the link?

You mean the Marshall & Sanov (sp) fraud?

Have you been under a rock for the last 10 years?  That stuff was proven fraudulant (both the data and the methodology) years ago.

I have no idea if that is the one I'm remembering.

It is.  They listed a bunch of rounds with their 'percentages'.  It was all the rage in the mid-90s  Covered everything from .22 to 12 gauge.

I'm pretty darn sure that this was something that was released recently. That report doesn't sound familiar but who knows....

C'mon, just because I want to read through something again doesn't mean I'm basing my life or my carry equipment on it.

Shot placement matters is what I gathered from that...

Otherwise a lot of the stats on it make you go

That's awesome.

Make sure to ditch your centerfire rifle for .22LR since .22LR takes "less hits to incapacitation" than centerfire rifle.

That study is awesome! I'm gonna rewrite all my ammo FAQs!

Awesome! I'm ditching the .45 in favor of a .380 since they had the same "stopping power".

Cho proved at Virginia Tech that 9mm is quite capable of killing.

You've obviously never been to the ammo forum, then.

Pish Tosh. .22LR is where it's at!

why do you think the military uses .223? it's so close the .22 in power nothing can stop it!

Just remember all these stopping power statistics fail big time because they do not differentiate between physiologic stops and psychological stops.  The difference between the two is huge, more than large enough to spoil any numbers you care to collect.

Did the perp stop because he had to or because he wanted to?

Oh and chuck hawk should be poked with a sharp stick until he takes that idiotic opinion piece off his site.

He also used a .22. All Cho proved is that it's easy to kill people who are disarmed by policy and can't shoot back.

As for the OP, maybe you were thinking of this? Same data that was already posted, different format.

Funny observation:

Someone on Ten Nugent's board asked a cop about handguns used by criminals. The cop said the bad guys generally had good taste in weapons, many of which would turn up stolen. Then he asked about the ammunition usually found.

"Whatever's on sale at WalMart."
