Ripped half of the skin off of my right pointer finger clearing the slide on a Springfield xd9
 shit hurts. Csb and all I know. Really liked shooting the xd though. And the girl i went with shot my ar better than I did

In general conversation outside of arfcom, you should say "index finger". Unless of course you're south of I-80, then you're given a pass. 
ETA: "clearing the slide" and "right pointer finger". I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're left-handed? If you're NOT a lefty, it would be pretty comical to see how you managed to eff up your right trigger finger while clearing a malfunction.
