The reason I ask is that I have stopped eating at FF places for a year now and damn proud of it.  However I really enjoy 5GB.  Is that considered FF or not?

I'd call it fast food.

It's higher-end, pricey fast food, but fast food nonetheless.

Ditch the bun, skip the fries and Coke. Boom! It's Paleo!

it's technically "fast casual"

Overrated greasy as hell and definitely fast food.  Also overpriced.

It's no different than going to Burger King and getting a made to order burger.

The whole point of dropping fast food is to be healthy.  Buying that greasy Five Guys shit instead completely defeats the purpose of what you're doing.

The one near me is slow as fuck, so no it is not fast food.

Is their a waiter or are you going up to a counter to order it?

Food is made after you order, but then again that's the case at Subway.

No waitstaff, thus no expectation to tip.

It meets my definition, though I have no clue how the industry defines this stuff.

I'd also call it "even more fattening," if one can even believe that's possible.

It is pretty tasty though.

I've never been there, is there a drive-thru?  If not, then no.  Hell, even Culvers has a drive-thru.

It's only fast food if I have to "pull up to the second window please"

If it's the only "fast" place you go to, then I'd say you still made quite an accomplishment.

Also, In-N-Out is better.
