I check competitive rates every year to see who has the best deal on car and home owners insurance. Allstate and Farmers has given me the best pricing for the last 3 years. I recently got a notice in the mail that Costco offers home and auto insurance through Ameriprise (owned by American Express).  The car insurance was about the same pricing as what I'm paying with Allstate, but the home coverage was about 40% cheaper for the EXACT SAME COVERAGE. If you're a Costco member, you can call and get a quote in about five minutes: 888-404-5365. BTW...you can cancel your existing policy anytime. You don't have to wait for it to expire before you cancel.
