I can't beat the guy who got the $50 datsun a while back but here goes.

I wanted an AR10 for a while and started looking.  After 2 or 3 months I found and bought a like new AR10 Carbine flat top with a Trjicon accupoint 3-9x40 mounted in armalite mount for $700.  Had all boxes and original paperwork for everything!  He even included 260 rounds of Federal .308 Vital Shok and a cheap plastic carry case. Not a mark on anything.  He said he had less than 300 rounds down the pipe.

It was listed on Gunbroker. The guy was local and strapped for cash. We did the exchange at the store he originally bought it from.   I sold the scope for $500  and the mount for $65 on the EE.  I got $40 for the original stock and buffer tube when I bought a PRS.

Huge score!  KARMA was getting me back for something good I did at some point.  Including the ammunition I ended up with a free rifle pretty much.

I know. Hard to believe.  What about you guys?  I'm sure there are some good ones out there.  Let's hear em.

ETA. Can't post pics of finished rifle from my phone but I will when I can.  I've added a PRI lowpro gas block, Troy TRX Extreme, PRS Stock, Ergo grip and Primary Arms 4-16X44 optic.  Now it just needs a LaRue mount and some buis.......and a suppressor....and a precision barrel....and.......

S&W 686-2 w/4" barrel for $225. Guy needed cash real fast. Offered up the Smith for that price, I snapped it up.
Marlin 1894S in 44 Mag for $100. The owner used it one deer season, said it kicked too hard. Snapped that one so quick the shadow didn't even have time to form underneath it.

I bought a XD-40 Subcompact for 325 from a local shop, and then a year later, I traded it for a pristine S&W 629-3 prelock.  Straight trade.  It was like I bought a $800 pistol for $325.

Ended up with an OD (franken) G19 that I have only $230 in. The best deal was trading about $250 worth of electronics for about $800 worth of ammo.

Colt Kodiak, $500.

The Kodiak is an Anaconda that's been through the Custom Shop.  .44 mag, target trigger, target hammer, Pachmayr Decelerator grips, unfluted cylinder, factory Magnaported.  They only made 2500 of them and only sold them in Alaska.  I'm the third owner, first was a college student who sold it for food money, second was a fellow USAF officer who told me "You appreciate good firearms, I'll sell it to you for what I have into it."

Took me < .05 seconds to decide to buy it.

Oh yeah, then there was the essentially NIB Rem 700 ADL in .308 that I got at a garage sale for $200.  Still had the packing grease on it, and the guy threw in the 18 rds left in the first 20-rd box of ammo he bought with the gun. Had blown out his shoulder after buying it but before shooting it, tried to fire it and it hurt to much so he threw it out on the table.  Came with rings and a Bushnell Banner Trophy scope on it.

Well my uncle gave me a New In The Box Colt Trooper Mk III and an almost new lever-action Marlin .357 - so that is my best deal.  The second best was an almost new Colt AR-15A3 for 500.00 - this is why it pays to be friends with cops - they buy nice toys and more often than not get involved in messy divorces were the need money in a hurry.

HubMcCaan reminded me of the gifts––over a couple of years, my FIL gave me an M1 Garand (SA 2.23 million mixmaster from Jul 1943), a Mitchell's Mauser K98, an IMI Uzi Model B, and an Auto-Ordnance Thompson Mod 1927.

I REALLY like my FIL.

Mismatched M95 Mannlicher in the original 8*50R for $295.  Initially I thought that price was way too much.  Then I flipped the tag over and saw it came with almose 2,000 rounds of Bulgarian 8*50R milsurp ammo from 1935-36 (the last bulk manufacuture).

A slice of the pie:

Except for this, I never have find 'steals'.

I used to have a sports memorabilia shop and was a distributor for a certain price guide magazine. after 24 issues, the complete set was worth around $800, but the first 4 issues were very hard to find. Since I was a distributor and got in on the ground floor, I got them for $1 per mag. A guy who collected these also collected firearms and he had 2 of every issue except 1-4. He needed 8 magazines to have 2 complete sets worth $1600.

He traded me a 1937 Browning A5 "Sweet Sixteen" for those 8 magazines. I had $8 total in them.

I had the gun appraised at $2,100 a couple of years ago.
Unfortunately, I had to sell it.
