Just four years ago freshman senator Jim Webb would have 9 second senate sessions to block GWB recess appointments. It was heralded as a great thing by the media.

A nine-second session gaveled in and out by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., prevented Bush from appointing as an assistant attorney general a nominee roundly rejected by majority Democrats. Without the pro forma session, the Senate would be technically adjourned, allowing the president to install officials without Senate confirmation.

Ah how times have changed

My prediction:  There will be bitching and moaning, amounting to nothing so the next time a republican president is in a similar position he'll have the ace of precedent up his sleeve.  "You can't say no because Obama already did it and we let that slide."

So....Republicans control the Senate? Interesting.

In fact Reid was majority leader at that time as well I believe.

The house didn't OK the senate to recess, so he couldn't make the appointments anyway (Obama)

Like the last minute machine gun ban, no one cares.  No one will care, and the courts would say "we can't do anything about it."

Are we closer to tyranny? Of course, but people will mock you for pointing it out.  Face it; we deserve it.
