Military Probing Army Reserve Corporal Who Campaigned For Ron Paul In Uniform In Iowa http://biggovernment.com/jsshapiro/2012/01/04/exclusive-military-investigating-army-reserve-corporal-who-campaigned-for-ron-paul-in-uniform/ by Jeffrey Scott Shapiro Big Government has learned that Corporal Jesse Thorsen, 28, who promoted presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) while in uniform during yesterday’s Iowa caucuses, is being probed by his Army Reserve unit for violation of Department of Defense Regulations. Members of the U.S. armed forces are prohibited by Department of Defense Directive 1344.10 from campaigning or participating in public political activities while in uniform. The purpose of the directive is to preserve the political independence of the military. |

An idiot with a vote. And an idiot with a future, unlike many who will come home and be unemployed.
|
|
Newest specialist in the US Army Reserves, bet those stripes come off quick.
Dumb move on his part. |
|
Fucking idiot.
For you Army boys out there, just how in the fuck can you be in for ten years and be an E4? |
|
One more moron that will be standing tall in front of the man on Monday morning.

How many of the gays protesting in uniform got in trouble? How many of those OWS fucksticks were investigated (assuming any of them had gotten further into the military than an Army surplus store)? Yep, this is blatantly against regs. My problem is this rule seems to flouted at will if it's for the "correct" political cause. |

How many of the gays protesting in uniform got in trouble? The ones I remember getting airtime were already out of the military based on thier inability to "don't tell". |

I get that, but I wouldn't think you could reenlist for that long like that. I had to be an E5 to reenlist, and that was with 5 years in. |

Yes it's not uncommon to see 40-50 year old Specialist in National Guard or Reserve units. |

An idiot with a vote. And an idiot with a future, unlike many who will come home and be unemployed. Kinda sad that such idiots have an equal voice with people who know how to make smart decision. But such is the peril of our system of government. As to his future, I have my doubts. He clearly doesn't have one in military service after this. |

Idiot.
Given that, though, I've often wondered why soldiers can serve in Congress. |
|
It's made quite clear to us that we don't do that shit. I'm sure he knows that. He deserves whatever the military does with him.
If you want to say, "I'm in the military and I support ______," that's fine. But NOT IN ANY OFFICIAL UNIFORM, even a PT uniform. |

Idiot. Given that, though, I've often wondered why soldiers can serve in Congress. Reservists and Guardsmen can as long as they don't campaign in uniform. Why shouldn't they? |

Tool. Who wears cammies off base? The Army. All of them seem to. |

No big deal Of course not. However, were he to do the exact same thing in support of some other candidate, you would be screaming for his head. |

They are probing this but not FUBAR Shamar. Former Marine SGT. Shamar Thomas stood around at Occupy Wall St. screaming at Cops while wearing his Marine Uniform. He also went on Speaking tours most days wearing a Marine Uniform and toting a fake resume and the DOD did Shit all. So tell me how this isnt a double standard against Conservatives. Yes I know he was a former Marine but the shit he spit was rediculous.

Never said they shouldn't. I said I've often wondered why they can, given the fact that what they can say or do politically in uniformed is limited. |

Yes I know he was a former Marine but the shit he spit was rediculous. Because Thomas was not active duty nor a reservist. He was acting as a civilian and was not subject to the DOD directive. Not sure DOD could have done anything to him. |

The "in uniform" is what the DOD directive is all about. It doesn't restrict them from doing political campaigning, etc while not in uniform. |

As I said, they just can't campaign in uniform, nor speak as if they represent the service. As long as they act as private citizens, good to go. |
