There is no republican candidate that is going to actively push for any gun control.

That is why the congress is so very important.

Blame the American people––NOT "the Republican party." There simply aren't enough people who think like the majority of this site's members. Everyone thinks they are "special" (mom said so!) and should get exactly what they want. Politics does not work that way. Once one accepts that simple reality it is then easy to do what is prudent and pragmatic.

The really laughable ones are those who think principles are involved in electing political figures. Does one use principles to brush one's teeth? Peel an apple? Drive a car? No. Selecting a candidate who most closely matches one's wishes and desires in the political realm is no different. Sadly, too many Americans are on the government teat, so "most closely" these days is "not very close" for many of us. Again, accepting this does not mean supporting it or liking it.

My point was the settling for *perhaps* a 40% personal approval for POTUS. I remember back in 2004 and 2008 on here the figure was like accepting them if they met ~ 70-80%. What comes in 2016? 20-30%?

Look, I said I'd vote Congressional and local races, just not for Romney and obviously not Obongo. That's how it's gonna be. You guys seem worried.

Romney isn't going to get the nomination. He won't get it in SC is my prediction. I know lots of folks down there, and yankees from MA aren't popular. NH may be a different story, but Pat Buchanan won NH in 1992, and it didn't seem to do him any good-although he was challenging an incumbent Rep. prez.

Romney isn't the one. Iowa showed that his candidacy hasn't improved since he last ran in '08, and that's with name recognition.

That's why Santorum's up right now. Bachmann is out. Who do you think will get her votes? Or Perry's when he's done?

If Romney is nominated I will vote the Congressional races and skip the POTUS ticket altogether. Obviously I'll NEVER hit a lever with Obongo on it but I sure as fuck ain't gonna hit one with Romney on it either.

Seems to be quite a few who won't vote for him. Perhaps enough to offset any worthless independents they *might* pick up in the general. That will ensure an Obama victory. Perhaps the Republican primary voters should wise the fuck up and vote their conscience in the primary like they're supposed to (in that case Romney wouldn't stand a chance as only about 20-25% actually support him). But if, as I predict, they go and vote for some bullshit fascade of "electability" then they deserve what they get next November.

Don't do it guys and gals. Don't do it........fair warning.

The old rule still applies today, "vote for the most conservative candidate with a chance of winning". Do it your way and we have a higher chance of winding up with Obama again, a hard left liberal socialist who won't have a re-election campaign to worry about. Do it the right way and, at very worse, we wind up with Mitt, a moderate Republican who will want to be re-elected and needs the good will of his party brothers in Congress to get anything done.

I fail to see how it's even a choice. But for people like you there's a blank spot on the ballot, write in anyone you want and think you're helping. Meanwhile the rest of us will be getting Obama out of office and, hopefully, holding the new POTUS in line.

It was a three way tie for delegates.

Getting the most votes feels warm and fuzzy but it was a 3 way tie for delegates none the less.
