just an update since I posted this :
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1250992_Please__Say_a_prayer_for_my___.html My cherished grandfather passed away 30min ago. I just got a call from my mother, and after 4 days of pain, and 2 days of sleep, he went to a better place. I went to see him in the hospital in Italy last monday, and stayed there until wednesday night. I had to come home. I planned to go back tomorrow to see him one more time, but he didnt make it. Maybe its better that way. I will miss him forever.. Miss the way he told me stories, miss the way he was proud of me. Miss how rough he was.. He was the "gran Torino" kind, if you see what I mean.. He was 87 years old, and.. ..and i am crying like a child writing this thread. Say a prayer for him if you believe. |

It's something we all go through and it's very painful. My prayers are with you and your family.
|
|
My sympathies
But, he lives on in you, Just as my Dad lives on in me. Keep him in your mind and heart and he is never far from you |
|
Sorry to hear that, Shung.
You and your family are in my prayers. |
|
Sorry to hear that, I hope that you and your folks can all pull together and stay strong.

My paternal grandfather also passed away at age 87. And like you, getting the call that he was gone was tough. This was the first time I experienced the loss of a close relative. But we can be grateful that both of our grandfathers lived long and full lives. Most people never get 87 years here upon earth. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

|
Shung, my condolences.
I believe that you will see your grandfather again. He is just as proud of you where he is now as he was here. "Those who live in the Lord never see each other for the last time". German Proverb |
|
Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.
Losing a loved one is never easy just try to remember the good times, and with tears of joy he will live on in you. |
|
Shung, you have my condolences and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thank you everybody. Your support relieve my pain. It is also the 1st close relative I lose, and it's painful. I have been lucky, and have known 4 great grandparent, and 4 grandparents.. My grandfather was an Alpine fighter (Alpino)... An had been a partisan during the war. When one of them dies, they don't say so. They say. "l'Alpino Xxxxx è andato avanti" ... Which kinda translate, "The Alpino xxxxxx went ahead (in a scouting way to go ahead) |

Sorry for your loss.
Mine died 17Jun02 and I still miss him everyday. |
|
Hang in there.
I lost both my grandparents during December 2002. My grandmother a week before Christmas; my grandfather on Christmas eve. It's painful now, but it does get better with time. |
|
Mes condoléances Shung...Je suis désolé
J'ai perdu mon grand père en 2006...C'est toujours très dur au début, mais ca va aller mieux assez vite... T'en fait pas... |
|
My sincere condolences - remember the good times.
He will always be with you, in your heart. |

Worst day of my life was when I lost my Gramps, OP. So in that respect I know exactly the suck you're in. And trust me, time will make it easier. If you're anything like me then soon enough you'll be at the point where thinking about him and who he was to you and the impact he had on your life will make you smile instead of cry. And if nothing else, it'll make you a better grandfather when your time rolls around. My condolences to you and your fam.

sorry to hear about his passing. will keep you and your family in our thoughts
in life and with time you will find yourself doing things and saying things just like him little reminders of your grandfather and will make you smile every time I catch myself sounding or acting just like my grandpa all the time. It is a well known fact my grandpa was a smooth talker with the ladies.... my wife reminds me of this all the time when I am "just being nice" |

A part of your Grandfather lives on in you. When you start thinking about it this way the pain becomes a little easier to bear. |

One of the saddest days of my life was when my granddad passed away. Condolences to you sir.

So sorry. Mine died 10 years ago, and it still hurts like it was yesterday. So sorry for your loss.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm glad he's in a better place, though.
My own Grandfather basically raised me as a child, and I see him as my Father. He taught me more than anyone else about how to be a good, useful man. I should heed his advice, because I'm not half the man he is. I want to make him proud before he goes. He has COPD and moderately severe heart problems now, and he probably wont be around for much longer, although he appears healthy and active enough. I hope I'm there when he passes, but people with his condition usually seem to die in their sleep. I just want to do as much as I can with him while he's still here, and this thread reminds me that I'm not doing enough. Thank you. I think I'll take him fishing soon. |
|
Thanks to all of you. Your message help me a lot, though I admit some made the room very dusty.
His name was "Felice" btw...which means "happy" |

Shung, I am so sorry. I have lost a two grandfathers and a grandmother this year. My grandmother was probably as close to me as my mother. You are in my thoughts and prayers. |
|
Heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Toughest day of my life was when my father died infront of me. (heart attack) Even though he is gone I happen to think he is still near.
