I need recommendations for a new carry gun for my wife. Requirements *9mm *DA/SA *Must have a manual safety and must be compact enough for a petite woman to conceal easily. Thanks in advance.
Update **I think I have her talked into the M&P compact with thumb safety. Thanks guys ** |

Have you considered a .380?
I know plenty of girls who CCW Bersa .380s. Also, I CCW a Bersa .380 (but I'm a non-fat dude). Speed |

Damn the manual safety.
Ohh..officer model 1911 in 9mm. Springfield and kimber make them |

She already carries a Walther ppk but wants a slightly larger round (9mm). I was looking at the CZ 2075 thought?

I could swear we have a handgun forum...complete with a CCW section...

Damn the safety...S&W J Frame...nothing to do but point and shoot

Why is DA/SA a requirement ?
She like 2 different trigger pulls ? |

Excellent profile for a carry gun in 9mm. She has not tried it, she has the issue with da/sa manual safety. She will shoot anything you hand her, but carrying it is different. I guess I should just be happy she carries. |

P229 N/M, missed the manual safety thing. Funny thing is I have a P226 that she loves, she just would not be comfortable carrying it. |

No need for it, and it makes it harder to train. Pick a SA only, or a DAO/Safe action type handgun and be done with it. BTW the Ruger LC9 is a DAO type pistol that is compact, has a small enough group for a woman to easily handle (my wife and 10 year old daughter shoot it), and the gun has a manual safety (1911 like). The trigger is a long 'double action' type pull that is light. |

HK P30 if size isn't an issue. HK P2000SK otherwise. beat me to it |

I have been looking at CZ's they seem very nice. Any insight on the 2075? |

I'd say HK P30. Might be a bit big, but it's my favorite pistol.

Good on you for wanting a manual safety for her - very smart - most here are just too damn professional for them. I can't help but sadly laugh ever time I read about some fool's AD into the wall or his hand or foot with a Glock. But to each his own.
Beretta 92types (and the Taurus clones) are always nice, but not so much for really small hands due to the trigger reach. I see on the Taurus site that their 24/7 series may now all have manual safeties, but I suspect they are still "partially cocked" striker fired designs. If you are not opposed to a used piece, you may want to consider a fine S&W third gen metal frame model (I could still almost cry when considering they have stopped making them), like a 3913 (regular or in ladysmith guise if you can find one), or a 6906. These are top tier pistols, built like precision tanks, that will last a lifetime and never let you down, with manual safeties and magazine disconnects. God they don't make them like they used to. Good luck. |

I'd personally lean towards one of the more traditional 75 based designs as I am coming to the conclusion that the CZ 75 is the best hangun... <Clarkson>IN THE WORLD</Clarkson>.

Quoted: *9mm *DA/SA *Must have a manual safety and must be compact enough for a petite woman to conceal easily. Ouch, that's hard. As others have said, my first thought is to a S&W 3913 (ladysmith or otherwise). Just a shame they do not make them any more. New, I'd go for P2000SK, but for a petite woman, the Kahr's or the Walther PPS may be a much better fit IMHO if you can adjust your trigger and manual safety needs. (Although you can get a MA-approved PM9 with manual safety) |

For the safety conscious, a P7 PSP can't be beat. No pistol is safer. A tad heavy though...
Do not try to make her a 'tier 1' candidate. The safety is silly when the hammer is down, but hammer down is perfectly sane in a DA pistol. Dumb is a Glock without an appropriate trigger covering holster. |

I'd say HK P30. Might be a bit big, but it's my favorite pistol. I'll second this. Just make sure you get the one with the lever safety so she can flip it on if that's her preference. It's comparable size wise to a G19. |

If she's already used to a slide-mounted safety, a 3913 or a Beretta Type M would be a natural choice.

Has she shot a Beretta PX4 subcompact in 9mm (Type F or Type G - type D is DAO)?
Seems to fit her needs quite well, I really like those little guns. Ended up selling mine as I carry the PM9 whenever a full size doesn't work, but it was a great pistol. |

Compact Beretta PX4 Storm is a nice pistol and meets your DA/SA and safety requirement

My wife used a Sig 239 until she eventually ditched it for a G19.
The 239 is a quality firearm and hers was accurate and reliable. One bonus is the slide is easy to operate (something many women have issues with). She had trouble with my CZ P01. |

I was going to say Sig P239 until I saw manual safety.....So I still say Sig 239.
