Is it really drying up? I just recently aquired 3000 rounds of .223 from sportsmans guide for a great price, and yesterday I orderd 5000 rounds of wolf 7.62x39 in anticipation of my SAR-1 arriving. Seems plentiful to me.

I'll check it as well.
At least I can use this as an excuse to buy more.
Nothing like a good warning story to tell the wife so I
won't catch shit for spending more money.
Its becoming an issue at Legs's house.
Wife is starting to bitch more about my hobby.
I'll have to divorce her soon it looks like.

Who exactly would "a lot of places" be? The only place I have seen without it recently has been Cheaper Than Dirt. Otherwise, it's avail.

Better buy all the surplus you can . . . there's soon to be a shortage of militaries rejecting billions of rounds of perfectly good ammo.

I have a local guy who rolls Guatamalan by the truckload. He's always got it. Last time I talked to him, he was sitting on about 200,000 rounds and also had about 200,000 green tips.

I know a guy at work who knows a guy who has shitloads of this stuff. Whenever I want some I bring cash to work and a couple of days later the guy from work brings in a green wooden crate with rope handles that says IMG on it with 1440 rounds of OK surplus ammo in it. I wonder if he's running low too.

Like you, I'm very partial to the SA and do have some stashed away.  But as you say, how long will it last?  I'm going to start looking for a replacement for the SA on the chance we may not see too much more out there...

Going to start with the Guat from Century.

I was always annoyed that we milsurp users had to look to other countries for decent blasting ammo... I wonder how much surplus/dated ammo our government destroys instead of selling on the open market...

You nailed it.

If you watch the ammo supply over the years, you'll notice that at times certain calibers temporarily get in short supply.  Stuff gets held up with BATF and Customs while guys keep buying.  It eventually gets through, but everybody goes into panic buying mode at the slightest hint of a supply crunch and usually pays too much.  A few years ago, .223 imported surplus was being held up and people had resorted to paying $155/case for reloads.  Anyone remember Melisha's ammo?  Good reloads, but still...

Take it easy, don't panic.  It may or may not be drying up, but these things ARE cyclical.  Even if it is, there will be more in a couple months when BATF and Customs get off their asses.

Yeah, I know, we should have elected Gore.

As for the surplus ammo, think about it guys.  It is surplus, which means that it will run out eventually, so what's the big deal?

Ya, I don't know what everyone's problem is. When the surplus ammo supply runs out, state and local government will fulfill their duty by sending out ammunition rations to all registered gun owners to help us fight the war for our freedom.

The WAC Fun Show had plenty of ammo of all types for sale. I saw the 2700 round brown plastic cases of SA 5.56 going for $350.
The surplus ammo was well stocked at Kesselrings.

No ammo shortage in WA.

GW has done nothing for gun rights.  He did not cancel any of Klinton's anti-gun Executive Orders.  His AG puts out an opinion that says the 2nd Amendment applies to individuals but the government has the right to take away any gun they don't like.

His father was responsible for Ruby Ridge and the Assault Weapons Ban.

Sorry, I chose not to accept the lesser of two evils because of the fear of getting the greater of two evils.
