to see. He isn't a pure bred Maine Coon but he has all the character traits. He's 11 years old and recently diagnosed as diabetic.I can't believe the difference in him since we started him on insulin. He's like he was when he was 2 years old. I got him for my wife as a birthday present. He kinda runs the place now! [;)]

Thanks Toaster. I do too. To bad he doesn't like any other animals...when we moved into this house he went out through the screen in the door after the neighbors collie. Weren't even moved in and he's trashing the house!!!

Nice cat-thanks Striker! He's got the fluffy fur of a maine coon-mine was black and grey.

My Aimless was diabetic. He lived for at least 6 years after that ( I think longer). I did have to watch his dosage or he would kind of pee where he was not supposed to (like everywhere). They will lose a lot of weight VERY quickly if the diabetes is not treated right.

Wonderful animals. They are more like really fuzzy dogs than cats. Aimless did not really want to be on your lap. But if you left the room he would casually wander in and plop down there-just keeping an eye on things.

Heck even when he was about 15 and on his last legs he taught my sister's chihuahua who was boss! I hate to admit it, but I miss that old cat more than a lot of people. [:(]

he does the same thing. He's never jumped up in my lap but he follows me from room to room. His very sudden drop in weight and lose of fur on his tail and back was the reason we took him to the vet. Insulin and a high fiber diet and he's as good as ever.
Did yours bite you every time you patted him? Mine does, not hard but bites me every time.

Nah Aimless never bit-you could spin him around, hold him upside down-he'd just sort of look at you with an annoyed expression-"you woke me up for this?".

I don't have a MainCoons, but I've got a huge long hair black cat
that is 12 years old as well now. He had to have an operation around
Christmas that cost me $2,500. He's pretty aggresive, a Dalmation came up to him and he attached himself to his face via his claws.
As the dog yelp and ran away my cat chased him for a few feet. He always brings his fresh kills to the front door
for us to see. He dragged a squirrel home once.
