This kid has a brilliant career ahead of him.

Teenage councilman will take office despite arrests

Kyle Bower will become one of the youngest elected officials in the Lehigh Valley next month when he takes a seat on Alburtis Borough Council, despite criminal charges he's facing in Lehigh and Berks counties.

Bower, a 19-year-old Democrat who said before the November election
that he wouldn't accept the $1,875-per-year position because of his
legal trouble, has since changed his mind, saying he doesn't give up on
something he wants. He has not been convicted of a crime.

"I've been talking to my parents and friends and family. It's
something, at the end of the day, that I shouldn't let up," said Bower.
"I take this seat with my head held high and with a good standpoint on
things. I'll do what I can to better the community."

A former Emmaus High School student who completed 11th
grade, Bower is currently working as a cook while trying to earn his
General Equivalency Diploma. He said he plans to attend a community
college to study culinary arts or meteorology. On his Facebook page, he lists "chyllin," "partying," and "playing sports" as his activities.

He said he's in alcohol treatment and that counseling has "pointed me in a direction away from drinking."

Not everyone is thrilled with Bower's decision to serve.

"I wish he would stick by his original story" of not accepting the
seat, said Council President Steven Hill, who has served since 1993. "I
think the man has trouble. I don't think it's appropriate for him to
hold office right now with the arrests that he had."

because young people always make the best choices.....but his winning shows that some voting areas are not wise enough to understand why even with allowing for exceptions to the rule this is not a good choice.

The Bill of Rights; how does it work?

ALBURTIS, Pa. - A teenager elected to a Pennsylvania borough council
seat took office a few hours after pleading guilty to stalking and
escape charges.

Nineteen-year-old Kyle Bower was sworn in Wednesday night as the newest member of the Alburtis Borough Council.

Earlier
in the day Bower was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a
pair of misdemeanors for throwing a brick through his ex-girlfriend's
window and slipping out of handcuffs during an alcohol-related arrest.
