Yes 2 separate Pieces,.... One for the Phone and Pandora/MP3's,... and the other for Higher end Audio
Sennheiser Klipsh Gardo ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? |

I love my Klipsch S4s. Their sound is pretty balanced with tight bass and clear highs. I like the little metal case too. It's good for traveling.

|
I'm happy with my Klipsch S4i's (The "iphone" version with the volume and call buttons)
They have been through the wash twice and still work. One of my dogs chewed them up and they still work, though I need to glue them back together. I went ahead and ordered a second pair from Buy.com for $60 or so. My only issue is the silicone gel seals. If you chew gum or eat, you hear all that in your ear. It's a little annoying. However, that's a problem with all those type in-ear plugs. |

grado headphones - best i've heard and used. i have a pair of sr225's at the office and i've never looked any further.
bose earbuds seem to have the best sound for the music i listen to and are comfortable for long periods. the cables have not worn very well though and i'll either need to repair or replace within the next year or so.

|
I use Etymotic ER6i's. Good sound and very good nose cancellation. Took a little getting used to having something in your ear but I was no longer turning my music to 11 to drown out the ambient noise. Much better for your hearing also.

If the cable on the bose headphones didn't suck so bad they'd be head and shoulders above the competition. Unfortunately, they short out at the jack and go to single-ear right about in time for the warranty to expire. Right now I'm using MC5's and while they're ALMOST as good as the bose, the bass isn't quite as strong. That being said, my final verdict is that the Bose earbuds are pieces of shit that wear out after about a year and week. |

Hated etymotic earbuds, no bass at all. Love my sennheiser open air cans and Shure IEMs.
|
|
I don't know about drivers, but I do love custom molded silicone for the part that goes in my ear - at least for my ear plugs... Tried listing to my ipod in a loud environment and was really missing the sound damping of a fit plug.

Sennheiser is the best way to go. Great sound, great value, great service. 2 year warranty. You can get some great deals on Amazon.
I have a pair of AKG. Bunch of poo poo IMO. Yes they are good headphones, but not $180 good compared to what you get with Sennheiser. Keep in mind, your headphones are only as good as the quality that you ripped the music off the city and another bottlenecking factor is the quality of the headphone port of your device. |

Damn, just spent an hour poking around there . These threads were helpful: Shootout: 96 Portable Headphones Reviewed Multi-IEM Review - 207 IEMs compared |

I owned some older Shure E3C and loved them. I was pretty hard on them and they eventually fell apart. My first set broke somehow and Shure sent me a brand new pair.
I really like my Sennheiser HD595s. I wish I used them more than what I do. ETA: I'm not one of those audio guys. I bought the Shures on a whim and the Sennheisers after a trusted friend suggested them to me. |
|
I only use Sennheiser. I have two sets that I use, one for my Ipod and a full size pair for my stereo system.Cant remember what models and don't feel like finding them to look. The large set I have had for at least 20 years and had to change the foam ear cushions once about 7 years ago.

For earbuds, ultimate ears. I like mine. My favorite IEMs ever were panasonics, but they discontinued their high-end IEM line in the US. |

Etymotic. I wish I could endorse them. I had a pair of their buds. Paid almost 100 bucks for them, but don't remember the model. The sound was great. But one side quit working within a year. I sent them in and they replaced them under warranty. But within another year the new pair was doing the same thing. I don't know if I'm extra rough on them or what. I've also gone through a pair of Sony's and Skullcandies. |

Mine didn't wear out because I don't use them much. When running on the treadmill, they would build up static electricity and deliver a shock. It either goes to the device (you can hear it and it actually changed the volume) or it goes right to one of your ears. It was extremely annoying. At first I thought it was the sound system at the gym, but it was the bose earbuds. |

So what's good between $25-50? That's what I have in those MasterCard gift cards.
Right now I'm using Phillips in-ear phones that I bought for <$15 at Target because I lost my last ones. Night and day better than the Apple ones, but still sucky. |

A couple of days ago I started a thread on the headphones I received for Christmas.
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1272530_.html Might be worth looking into. I am very happy about them. |

For earbuds, ultimate ears. Yep, the Rolls Royce, but you'll pay through the nose. Etymotics, Shure and for a sleeper set that isn't a ball breaker at $99.99 try out HiFiMan's Re-Zeros sold by MapleShade studios. For the money, they're very reasonable and Pierre Sprey is a famous recording engineer and while a bit whacky with some tweaks (you'll see him on Military Channel talking about jets) he's got a very good ear.
