New York, NY (June 14, 2002) - Each year over 3,000 children in the United States lose their lives to gun violence. In response, PAX - Real Solutions to Gun Violence and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), created the ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Campaign, an innovative and life-saving campaign that urges parents to ASK their neighbors if they have a gun in the home before sending their children over to play. It is based on the fact that over 40 percent of homes with children have guns, almost half of which are left unlocked or loaded.

If someone actually has the stupidity to ask about your firearms, first have them explain why they're not also inquiring about poisonous chemicals, swimming pools, sharp objects, exposed electrical wiring, improperly designed child safety seats, aggressive pets, food poisoning, water heater thermostats set high enough to cause burns, neighbors with prior convictions for child molestation, or any of the countless other things that harm more children than firearms ever will. Then ask them to explain their disproportionate obsession with firearms.
