The Brits won't let Eley export 70 cases of .22 LR match ammo to Israel because:
"There is a clear risk that the ammunition
might be used for internal repression, external aggression, prolonging the conflict and the risk that the goods might be diverted to an undesirable end user."
[rolleyes]

Apparently, this is the first time that there's been a problem with exporting Eley, so shipments to places like Cuba, China and Syria aren't a problem.

Now don't anyone jump to the conclusion that Eley made this incredibly stupid decision!

It was the British government that put the kibosh on the exporting of this ammo to Israel!

Not Eley.

The company is already appealing the decision!

Right -- Eley wants to sell it, but the twits in the UK government won't let them.

It will be a sad, sad day for shooters everywhere if they ever shut Eley down completely. [:(]

There is a website, http://www.isayeret.com/weapons/sws/ruger/ruger.htm
that shows weapons of the Israeli military; included is a supressed Ruger 10/22 used as a short range sniper rifle. Apparently they DO use match grade ammo in them.

Does that help explain the British Gov's decision?

Personally, I'd sell them .308 and .223 if they wanted it, but I'm not British.

Edited to add the URL.

My fiancé's father would be devastated!  He goes to England to visit them every year or so!
