_________ _____________received his Ph. D. in early American history in 1967 from the University of Colorado. His research combines social history and various aspects of anthropology in the study of all-male sexuality within military organizations––pirates, ships' crews, cabin boys, and the like. He is the author of several dozen articles, and his books include Sodomy and the Pirate Tradition: English Sea Rovers in the Seventeenth-Century Caribbean (New York: New York University Press, 1983); An American Seafarer in the Age of Sail: The Erotic Diaries of Philip C. Van Buskirk, 1851-1870 (New Haven, CT: Yale University Press, 1994) and Gay Warriors: A Documentary History from the Ancient World to the Present (New York: New York University Press, 2002). His most recent book is Boys at Sea: Sodomy, Indecency and Courts Martial in Nelson's Navy (London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2007). He is currently at work on a book dealing with homoeroticism in the United States Navy. I was thinking about taking one of his classes. |

Wow. That's a LOT of gayness. Fitting that its about the Navy.

Don't drop anything that would require you to bend over in front of him to pick it up.

Guy spends a lifetime researching and studying queers. I'm sure that is a legacy to be proud of. What class does he teach?

He's devoted his life to the history of buggery.
I bet he's seen a few gladiator movies. |
|
Where else in this county would it be possible for this freak to get a job besides a gay bookstore or a college campus? |
|
What class? I don't care what he finds interest in researching, as long as he can teach the material I need for class effectively.

So, he spent his entire life researching butt sex on a boat? Hmm...Even I would have trouble spinning that at an interview.
Interviewer: Mr. Poink, tell me about your academic qualifications and how they are relevant for this position Poink: Well, I can tell all of your potential clients about how sailors suck and fuck each others' hard, veiny hogs while traveling on a boat. Interviewer: Uhhh...What? Poink: Yup, I wrote a bunch of papers on it. Would you like to read them? Interviewer: Excuse me while I burn your resume and have security escort you out. Poink: So, you'll call, right? |

I have a lot of crazy shit popping up next semester, so I specifically looked for easy classes, since I haven't used up many electives yet. This one should be entertaining. |

Pretty sure that wouldn't have been printed on the website of the university I attended, let alone hiring the guy.

Everyone here always like to profess expertise on Native American this or that, or buggery in the Greeks or even man-love Thursdays in Arab armies. For some reason, though, they are taken aback by people who actually choose to study the stuff. That being said, the complaints would have me a bit worried. |

OP, this is the sort of class you take to impress people with your knowledge at a dinner party.

I'd be more worried about the rate my professor feedback than his chock full of gay resume.

I would take it so I could join in on the gay jokes about the Navy.

Given his interest in butt-piracy, I'm surprised he's living in the middle of a desert.

I took a class my freshman year from a, hand to God here, Pink pants wearing flamer for American History. Small class and a small room, no more than 12 students, I tried it for a week but just couldn't take the lisping, waltzing, limp-wristed over-the-top faggotry and dropped the class.
I've had friends and extended familiy who before and since who are gay and never got the heebie-jeebies like I got from that guy. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh |

I enjoyed taking college classes taught by professors that I didn't agree with. Probably because I enjoy debating. Usually, at the end of the class, the professor would tell me that they enjoyed our spirited debates, and often agreed with my liberal or republican viewpoints on life. This is when I'd usually confess that I'm not a liberal or republican, I just enjoyed arguing the counterpoint when I had available facts at hand, because I enjoy the intellectual stimulation of good discourse.
Wish I had a vehicle for that in life now, work isn't a good place to engage in this activity, nor is AR15.com. |

I think I'd audit the class if you want to see what it's like. Just come up with something about how it doesn't fit your sched but you really are interested in Pirates and booty.

Looks like he was getting good reviews in the past (Up to about 2005) and then things started going down hill.
Sounds like it might be a good course to keep your mouth shut in (If you're conservative) for more than one reason. |
