So I get a call at work today from my wife, who's freaking out. Apparently her uncle (technically ex-uncle) was fighting with his wife, she ran next door, cops came, he shot at them, hit one cop in the vest, and got himself shot. The bullet hit his upper leg or hip and deflected up into his abdomen. He's currently in critical condition and is not expected to survive. Dumbass.
Every time I met him, he was always polite, quiet, and shy. But he's bipolar and, I guess he was having an episode. He and my wife's aunt got divorced a few years ago, and he wound up with a younger mail-order bride from the Philippines. Sorry for your wife bro, we have a in-law that suffers with bi-polar disorder, and it sucks. It's a shame it had to go down like that for all parties involved.

Dead is probably better than prison for attempted murder of a cop. I'm guessing said uncle is in his 50's at least, he'd likely die in prison or an institution.

They just took him off life support. He'll probably go in the next few hours.
Apparently, she was drunk, and he tried to take her bottle away from her. In the struggle, she got cut on her forehead. The reports of injuries in one of the articles was sensationalized. The cut was just about her only injury. (This was from her.) What led to him snapping and shooting at the cops, I guess we'll never know. He'd never been all that stable, but I'd never known him to be violent. |
