The corrupt bastards, some of whom are probably guilty themselves, are just doing the minimum that is necessary to shut up the peons and keep the money coming in, and stop the hemorrhage of money going out in "settlements"--hush money. I am not Catholic, or religious, but have no animosity towards churches in general, but, due to an old girlfriend with a sister who works as a principal in a Catholic school, I have been privy to this HUGE scandal for many years. This has been ongoing for decades. I am glad this most perverted monster is now public. The Catholic church deserves whatever happens. The hierarchy of leadership has only been concerned with one thing--maintaining the status quo, while sacrificing their flock's children. [pissed]
There is one thing that I find questionable about this. Some of the "victims" that have come forth were 14 to 16 y/o when they were alledgedly "abused." I was very active in another type of church during my teen years and had some preacher tried to ass-rape me I would not have submitted, to put it mildly. Most priests I have seen are pasty-white and some of the biggest candy-asses around, so how could they "rape" an unwilling youth? Methinks some of these "victims" are little queers looking for free money now that the timing is right, similar to the Firestone tire debacle. Plenty of shame to go around.
