A controversial
provision in New Mexico's concealed carry law has resulted in the state's
highest court declaring it unconstitutional. Enacted in April 2001 to
allow qualified citizens after receiving safety training and passing a
criminal background check to carry concealed firearms, the law included an
option for individual municipalities to ban carrying within their
jurisdictions. The state Supreme Court ruled, however, that cities and
counties don't have the right to choose which state laws they want to
follow, and because of this, the entire statute was unlawful the court
said. In order to pass constitutional muster, legislators must rewrite and
pass a new concealed carry bill without any provision allowing
municipalities to opt out of the law.

So was there a cc ban that was struck down in the now unconstitutional law that will now be in force again? Or does NM now have VT style carry for a while?

In the great free state of Arizona , no one can pass a gun law that adds or subtracts from the states law. Meaning one city can't pass a law banning ccw people because they want to.TO BAD ,SO SAD.Anti-gunners are NOT welcome in Arizona. And we will get that turncoat McCain the hell out of office befor the guy can screw anything else up.

That is called a state pre-emption law. Look at how nicely it has done in kalifornia. Lots of cities started passing their own gun control laws in blatant violation of pre-emption, but the REPUBLICAN attorney general refused to do anything about it.

HAHA serves you kalidiots right.
