Got 18G for signing a contract once - a re-enlistment contract so I've been poor ever since.

Biggest check I got was from insurance claim, $27500. Biggest check I've written is $92,760, to pay off house in only 7 months. [:)]

$150,000 check. Took a second out on the house to due a major remodel. The check was sent to me to spend on the house. It did enter my mind about blowing off the house and just having fun then go bankrupt.

I got a check for @ $25,000 when I sold my condo in 1980 and got a wild hare to cash it. The bank would only give me $12,000 as they claimed that's all they had. I bought gold Kruggerands with it and financed a trip to Hawaii, Australia and other ports in the Pacific. Gold was soaring. I carried $3K in gold coin through customs in Australia in my pocket, highly illegal, and all they were interested in was seeing if I had pot.
The wife recently WROTE a check for $800,000 to the Feds. |

I work a fortune 50 company as a win2k sys admin. Its ok, I been thinking about going into finance or law. Now, I have already started spending it! And the check is still in my possession!. finance is a cool field, that field needs some honest people. The problem with finance is that the lure of money manage to corrupt a lot of people. They need more people whose interest in finance is academic, who don't care about the pay, and just love what they do.

Funniest check story:
My sis was working for a charity in DC and was to receive a check from the Gates Foundation (as much as I despise the man at least he gives his wife something to do by giving some of it away). They send the check regular mail and of course it get s lost. After a while she calls and they say no problem we'll just send another one out. I guess they weren't worried about someone trying to forge the first lost check. Just imagine the ID you'd need to cash a $900,000+ check. [:)] |
