List some good reasons to have your Concealed Carry Permit ...
I'll start .. 1.) If the NICS call center is down, say in a completely insane scenario (bird flu), here in Texas a CCW circumvents the need to call in or be forced the mandatory wait.

In VA, the only good reason I can see as to why I have it is to legally carry concealed.

The best reasons I can think of...
 That big ol' ugly guy in the back is responsible for the safety and protection of everyone else in that picture 24/7 and, sadly, there are some circumstances in life where that might require the immediate availability of a firearm regardless of where we might be. (The missus carries daily as well, but that's beside the point here.) Or, IOW, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.  (Stated above at least once, but it bears repeating IMHO.) |

You're right, it can be a complicated mess, but the way the law read a couple of years ago [the last I checked] I think National Sea Shores would be analogous to National Forests....so my assumption is that OC is not ok in VA, but CC is just fine. For the edification of others, outside of VA... If you CC in a bar in VA, you are prohibited from drinking. If you OC in a bar in VA, there is no prohibition from drinking. In VA it is illegal to CC or OC in a church, without good reason. Out AG has recently ruled that personal defense is sufficient reason. This is all stupid, since churches are private property, and I fail to see how state law trumps private property rights....it should be up to the landowner. A question here: under what circumstances are firearms permitted at Arlington? In the car, on the person? I just don't know. It's close to DC, so that's got me wondering. |

Although I can OC here in NM I prefer to CCW. Unfortunately having a CHL does not bypass the NICS here in NM. I wish it did.

When the State of Iowa screws up and there is a delay between the time our Professional Permit expires and the new one issues, it is nice to also have the Non- Professional Carry Permit.
