When I bought my preban Bushmaster I called Bushmaster and had them look the number up. They will even fax you a letter confirming if it is pre or post.

L 62999 was the LAST serial number out of Bushmaster before the ban took effect.

Bushmaster had some lowers below 62999 that they consider post-ban..due to when they were assembled into a rifle.
