Borders went out of business, but at least some good came out of it. I got to unbox a bunch of my books this weekend. Thanks, Borders!

My "library" consists of a three shelved cabinet, in the middle of a pyramid of books.

I need to get more shelves.

I might not be so embarrased to post pics of mine. It is slightly more organized.

In my defense that is the back room/ laundry room which is unfinished.

I read a lot and bought a lot of books in my 20's but sold off my books about 3 times because I was so broke.

Now I barely read anything unless it's on the internet.

My bookcase is a bit of a shit-tip right now, I'm trimming some of the fat, and I'm also using my Kindle more and more. I've probably still got about 50 books, which is down from what it used to be.

Same here. Last time I counted, I was right at 3,000 books. That was a couple years ago, and I've bought many more since.

There's a HUGE used bookstore close to where I live, and I always end up walking out with an armload of books because they're only a buck a piece.

Like many others, most of mine are boxed right now.  I have one small book shelf in my computer room that is my "to be read" section.  Counting just now, there are 35 books that I still have to read.  I had been whittling away at it, but I just visited the Air Force Museum last week, and walked out with 7 more books from their gift shop.

Most of my books are on a hardrive, though I do have a decent collection of harder to find books and stuff from small publishing houses because I want to support the authors.

FYI: I've made hundreds if not over $1k off of my local libraries. They often have book sales where they clear out old hardbacks to make room for new ones...often these are original Book Club First Editions ordered by the library, or even real First Editions donated by people when they die

My best is I popped a pretty ratty The Moon is a Harsh Mistress for $2 at my library and got $100 for it on ebay

Right now I'm sitting on a Book Club First Edition To Kill a Mockingbird as well as a heap of Heinlen and LeCarre First Editions and some other authors
Check your local libraries for book sales!

Other than the Medical reference books my Wife has and the Architecture/Engineering/Code books I have in my office, everything else has been converted to digital.

We don't like a lot of clutter in the Disintegr8or household.

Ive been in clutter reduction mode, I just gave away 75 or so books to a few local ARFcommers and am getting ready to trash or donate at least as many more. I am going to switch over to digital 100%.

Moving a couple of times convinced me to drastically reduce my book count.  I kept all the gun related books, of course, and a few references and even a couple of old college books. My gun book collection is pretty impressive though.  I'll post pics when I get home, if I remember to....

ETA:  Found one already uploaded. Two out of maybe 6 shelves of gun books...

I really need more space FOR bookshelves , but here's some of the good ones , I still have 6 or 8 boxes in storage , a small pile by the bed , and a another pile in the can.

Not gonna take pics of everything, but when I had new flooring done last year, there were 120 or so 12"x12"x12" boxes of books plus about five bigger boxes for outsized books. Plus a nook and a tablet with Kindle app.

I don't have a television though.

Ivar shelving from Ikea is the best most modular and flexible I have found.

Talk about shelf appeal! I have a crush on your library - and not just because it looks eerily similar to mine. Last week, I was very sad to notice that my copy of William Gibson's "Patter Recognition" has a torn dust jacket. Alas! Alack!

Sheesh, we need about two to three times the shelf space we currently have.  Plus the floor space to put those shelves.  I'd love to have some shelves like the ones in the OP numerous pics posted here.  We have the space in our guest room, too; or at least we would if we never had to set up the bed in there.
