Here is my son's first deer with a bow. He is 12 years old and on his way to becoming a true outdoorsman as well a fine young man. Not only is he very well mannered but he has great muzzle control with a firearm and always makes sure a firearm is unloaded. He does the kind of stuff that I was taught to do like, don't touch the blueing on a firearm but only touch the wood of when handed another persons firearm. Pass it on! Edited to add. I put it in GD because I am a proud father and don't want it to be hidden in the outdoor forum. |

Jake missed a doe early that morning. Deer ducked the arrow from a slow moving kids bow. 25 inch draw and 40 pound pull. The deer was nervous. I told him we had all season and it would happen if he wouldn't quit. That afternoon we heard deer blowing when we unzipped the blind at 5:00pm. I just barely got in the blind and here came the doe. I got the camera turned on but had to film through a screen but managed to get in focus by zooming in tight. Deer was very calm. Jake asked if I was ready and I said Yes if you can shoot between the trees. He said he could and WHACK! As the deer wheeled it looked like a waterhose of blood had come uncorked. Jake heard the deer crash at once but I didn't. He shot the deer at 10 yards and the deer went about 30 yards. Very exciting way to start a season. I didn't do any of the fake cutaways like on tv but did film the kill and the actual live recovery like it should be done. No staged scenes.

That was really great shot placement. It looks like your son has been practicing in the off season as he should. Thats what makes it to where you can make those perfect shots and kills. Congrats to you and your son.
