Listen up and don't be a schmoe.

October 8 is the anniversary of the day when Sgt York stopped a squad of German infantry and their bayonet charge using a 1911 and the .45 ACP.

And that's why I will be shooting my .45 ACP this coming October 8 and so should every other owner of a 1911.  I ask all 1911 owners to shoot their 1911 on October 8 and to post pictures.

I would also invite all Glock owners to kindly stay out of this thread.  Or if you insist in posting in this thread, kindly drop your Glock into a barrel of toluene and let it sit there overnight.  Then you may post pictures.

Thank you.

Do you only remove your 1911 from its bag once a year?

What if my glock is chambered in 45 ACP? Can I still play?

Not at all.  I shoot my 1911 pistols all the time.  But other times I shoot other guns.  But  October the 8th is 1911 day.

Bagged milk is illegal in Alberta. All of our milk comes in cartons or jugs.

And why go skating when I can go shooting?  Who in their right mind would choose skating over shooting?

I'm pretty sure it was the quebeccers that came up with bagged milk anyways, so Alberta being the anti-douche province, are right on top of un-fucking that shit!

Glock owner here, and I may borrow a 1911 on the 8th if that is acceptable.  Have owned/put together and shot many 1911s over the years but at the moment find that I don't have one in my collection.  Respect the man, the mission, the history, and the weapon.....just don't have one right now.

Men like this made this country, unfortunately there are damn few of them like this anymore.

My home brew 1911 that will get shot on the 8th. Essex Frame, Colt Slide, Wilson and McCormick parts with a few Sarco things too.

25 Yards, Standing, Weaver Stance.

Y'all step off from Fluffy.

The man knows his 1911s, and he offsets a thousand gun-boiling, milk-specced TTs.

Why limit it to Oct. 8th, Glock owners should be able (and wanting) to soak their guns in toluene on any given day.

So, if Alvin York used a different pistol would you still honor him on this day?

I read, In the movie he ( played by Gary Cooper ) used a 9mm Luger because they didn't have .45 ACP blanks.

That's what I understand, but his diary clearly states he used a 1911.

Not sure how important the specific tools he used are to his measure of heroism though...

Here's one of my 1911s.  Whenever a Glock guy asks me what DBAS stands for I tell him, "Don't be a schmoe"

This is a serious 1911.  There are no MiM parts and it has a real spring steel extractor.  I love this gun.

You should bottle that stuff and sell at as cologne. Call it "Condescention from Canada".

Real men don't wear cologne.  The only scent a real man needs is the scent of Hoppe's Number 9.

They make an LED upgrade head for that M6 now, iirc it's like 50 bucks.

I got one, I like the brightness and the better battery life
